X50v Keyboard Recomendations
Hi Guys,

Looking for a keyboard for my X50v, Just wondering what kind you suggest?

What do you have and are they ok?

Any advice appreciated.

Ive looked on ebay and am thinking about one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8806048650&rd=1&sspage name=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I know its ended but the shop has loads so can get them pretty much anytime.

Thanks in advance

Ben

I bought an HP branded bluetooth keyboard off of Ebay. It works just fine for my X50v.

Hi there, I use the Think Outside IR version with my X50v. It's essentially identical to the Bluetooth version but cheaper. The keyboard is wonderful and the only downside is a lack of a dedicated numeric row.

I also have the BT mouse which is a real treat but very expensive.

As for the units you mentioned I don't have any experience with them.

You want to get either a IR or BT keyboard so it won't become obselete when you get a new PDA or phone. (more likely for a unit to have IR than BT).

Cheers

Hi!

I've been using the Think Outside Stowaway Blue Tooth keyboard for over a year now. I love the fact that it's small and easy to carry. the keys are spaced properly for fast typing and the batteries seem to last a long time (like 12+ hours or more? - I haven't actually timed them, but I've been using the same pair of rechargeable 750 mah AAA NiMH's for about 3 months now with off and on use, and the batteries are still good.)

It takes some getting used to to have to push the function key to input numbers, but you get used to it pretty fast. It also has "hot keys" - push the green function button (it has 2 - blue and green) and then you can open Word, Excel, navigate around a page, etc.

I bot my keyboard on e-bay. It's worked great!

btw, I just upgraded from an X50v to a X51v and, after downloading the WM5 driver from Think Outside's website, the keyboard works like a charm with my new Ax.

Hope this helps!

Does anyone know if something like this would work on a X50?

http://www.surpluscomputers.com/stor...&item=ACC10887

It's probably not the best keyboard, but it's real cheap...

Nothing beats the Think Outside Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard and I would (and did) also get the Think Outside Bluetooth Mouse too!

Before you buy a keyboard, think about a software keyboard. I used to have a keyboard and never used it. I hated lugging it around and setting it up. Now I use Tengo Thumb. Check out the Software Keyboard Roundup in My Pda.

The "Universal Wirless Keyboard by palmOne" (model 3169WW) beats the Think Outside Stowaway keyboard any day of the year. I was unable to input numbers fast enough with the Stowaway. The Stowaway would be the perfect keyboard if only it had the dedicated keys. The palm's dedicated number rows enabled me to keep up.

Well, I have the Dell Bluetooth keyboard, which is identical to the Stowaway bluetooth keyboard, with the exception of being cheaper and Dell-branded. Works wonderfully, and I love it, but some of the parts are prone to breaking... The attachable stand wears down from frequent use, and I somehow lost one of the hinge pins, making it awkward to open and close. I'll see if Dell will replace it, otherwise I'm sure I can stick something in there to make it swivel nicely again. Beyond that, the keyboard itself is awesome. Yeah, you have the number row issue, but I'm pretty used to that by now.
