Sena case with belt-clip?
I'm seriously considering a Sena case (http://www.senacases.com/cart/home.php?cat=313). Does anyone have this case with the optional "ULTRA belt-clip"? How is the belt-clip?

The only picture is of the belt clip itself; what does the attachment on the case look like? Can the attachment on the case come off or is it permanently attached? Are the attachment and the belt clip durable? Is it obtrusive? Does it interfere when the PDA is placed in the cradle? Thanks!

I have used Rip-Offs in the past, and thir belt clips are fantastic. They almost never come off. Not quite the same case design Sena case you were looking at, but may be worth considering. http://www.ripoffs.com/hand.htm.

Thanks. I'm not necessarily sold on the Sena; however, I do want a style that keeps the Axim in the case at all times--even when I'm using it. It doesn't look like the Rip-Offs come in that style.

I have the Sena with the beltclip. The attachment does come off but there is a metal knob left at the back of the case so it is not entirely flat without the attachment. Yes, it does fit into the cradle with the attachment as well.

I personally don't use the attachment but bought the version with the beltclip because I actually wanted the knob at the back (fits well into my simple car mount). However, there are some reviews that might give you more info re: durability (with pictures too):

I personally love my Sena. The ability to sync in the cradle is the great, plus the quality is very good. I've had mine for over a year now and it still functions/looks as new.

BTW, if you're still open to looking at other cases, look at the case thead here:

I'll add my vote for the Sena w/ beltclip. I've had mine since I got my X51v about 8 months ago but also had one earlier for my X5 (although without the clip). I've never taking the knob off the case - in fact, I wasn't aware that it could be removed but I'll trust Gina if she says it can.

As for duability, it seems very good. I had a Piel Frama case with a belt clip for my iPaq and and completely distroyed the plastic piece that attaches to the belt once on it while getting into my car. I've learned since that event to be more careful but the PPC still gets caught up on the seat or seatbelt at times and the Sena clip has never failed or even suggested that it might.

There was also a thread recently by a member ranting about the poor quality of the leather on his Sena case but I must say, mine seems very good. I'm not a connoisseur of leather products but my case is soft and looks great after 8 months of daily use and that seems to be a more common opinion. The only thing I can think is the user on that other thread has very high standards or Sena got a bad shipmnet or leather or he somehow got a counterfeit case.

I assume Sena still has their Aximsite discount so if you decide on the Sena, check "Shopping/Discounts" link from the top of the web page for details.

I agree Sena is great, I won't use the belt clip any longer however, as I slide out of the car it turned sideways and came off the belt clip then landed on the cement. It was a short drop because I drive a car thats close to the ground so there was no damage except for a small scratch on the leather.

But the case is great for working on the cradle and looks very nice.

Take Care,
Jim

Thanks, everyone! For those that don't have the belt-clip, how do you carry your Axim/case--in a coat pocket, perhaps?

I don't need a belt-clip and stud most of the time; however, there are times (while walking without a jacket and listening to podcasts and tunes, for example) when it would come in handy to attach the device and case to my belt.

I guess the ideal case for me would have an unobtrusive piece of velcro sewn into the back of the case, with a belt-clip attachment that would stick to the case when needed. It wouldn't have to be heavy-duty; but it would make it convenient to carry when not wearing a jacket. Does anyone make something like that?

I suppose I could go with a Sena case without the belt-clip...and then come up with my own velcro solution.
