Looking for 'sports' case
Hi,

I am looking for a case for my X50 that will protect it a bit from knocks and weather. I have a few outside applications for it (GPS on bike and foot mostly), that I want to protect it from the odd knock, and the worst of the rain. I have seen the fully waterproof drop it in a tank of water cases, but these are too big and bulky - I still want to put it in my pocket. I have seen the silicon cases, but these seem too light. The closest thing I have seen is a crystal case, but it still seems a little bulky to me.

For my Blackberry mobile phone I have a bodyglove case that fits nicely around it, and has a clear plastic cover over all the keys and screen - this is idealy the kind of thing I am looking for.

Any suggestions???

Pete

This isn't a perfect match for you, but it may be enough of a solution.

http://www.countycomm.com/carrycase.htm

Scroll to the bottom, you need the bigger one to fit an X50/51 Axim. It is big enough.

There is also a slit in the velcro clasp for wires/antenna. Also a slot for credit cards, drivers licence and such to work as a minimalist wallet.

The triple locking flaps in back fit on handlebars, pack straps, belts and is a very secure system.

It's made of ballistic nylon with a soft lining. As such, you can spray it with any of the water repellents or even a wash-in DWR. The sides offer less weather protection than the front and back

For you, the problem is no clear front or button access.

I have the small version now that worked great for my Sony Clie or cell phone. I have the bigger one coming this week. Can post pix then if interested.

If you're going to be roughing it in the wilderness, there's no beating the waterproof Otterbox Armor 1900. But you do mention that this would be too bulky to carry in a pocket. I dunno, I think any one of the popular hardcases (Innopocket Magnesium, Rhinoskin, PDAir) would probably be fine then.
