Need full-sized, portable keyboard
Hi all,

I'm wanting to purchase a keyboard for my x50v, but I prefer a full-size one (ie, the number keys are on a separate row from the rest of them). I've seen lots of suggestions for the Think-Outside bluetooth keyboard, but it's not full-size in the sense I'm talking about. Bluetooth is not necessary.

What do you all suggest?

Phillip

PS - to date, the only full-sized, portable keyboard I've found is an IR keyboard made by PalmOne. I've tried it out, and it works pretty well, but I'm hoping I'm not limited to only one option.

I have a MS Optical desktop for Bluetooth (here's the Elite version on Amazon). It's a KBD/Mouse combo, and the KBD works quite well with my Axim. I use it as the main keyboard on my PC at home, but I can easily take it with when I travel.
And an ebay auction for the same model I have.

Believe me, you DO need a BT KB. I advise you to check out this one. I almost got that one. But I'm really gald I got the ThinkOutside Stowaway... works like a charm and looks and feels really good.

I don't currently have a keyboard, but thinking of getting one when I go to college, so I have plenty of time to think about it.

It is not really so unconfortable not to have the nubers layer on the Thinkoutside KB... if you need to use the number you have some sorda' number shift. You get used to it... plus, the KB is really sleek and responsive.

The to kb is great. Youll get used to typing on it, and its sleek, comes with a nice case, makes you want to use the axim more, especially in landscape. Landscape makes your screen feel 2x bigger, because all net pages are made for 4x3 size screens, instead of 3x4.

In the times when I used a Palm, I had a keyboard with only 4 rows and really didn't like it. Thus, even though the Think Outside might be really great, I don't think I'd like it that well. Engineers like their numbers!

Thanks for the suggestion, PocketBrain, but can the keyboard fold? It looks like you'd need a backpack or big case just to carry it, and I don't do major travelling: just to work and school .

I have the TO BT keyboard. It is EXCELLENT. The bluetooth connection is quite automatic and responsive, and although not having a seperate number key seemed strange at first, I got used to it fast. True, I don't use the number keys that much, but still. It allows for full size keys in a footprint the same size as my X5's keyboard which had an extra row, but smaller keys. Anyway, I love my keyboard. Oh, and the detachable stand is an extremely useful extra. I use it a lot more than the keyboard itself.

I used to have a Belkin IR keyboard that I bought new for $35. These TO kbs are $90, but I've seen some Dell versions on ebay for $50 to $60. I sold my kb awhile back and really want another. Is it worth spending that much?

My "Smart Keyboard" just arrived this afternoon. Seems like a pretty good unit - fired right up with my X50/520. I figured that it might make data-entry a little easier. I take my Ax with me pretty much everywhere I go. I would take my notebook - but the Ax is just easier to carry around and I can toss this keyboard in my duffel bag with the Ax and either use it or not use it as the situation warrants. I think it will be worth the $80 I spent on it.
