I'm thinking of getting a CF GPS reader for my Axim (Bluethooth ones are a bit pricey) such as this: http://www.holux.com/product/search....el=grandsonson

Will this mount hold the Axim still while driving with the GPS receiver plugged into the CF slot?

I'm not sure how much weight the receiver will add to the Axim.

Just wanted to say thanks for this tip:approve:

it works great in holding my Axim X51v in the Sena leather flip case with a extended battery in place in my truck, and it rides rough, it will very securely hold your Axim through some rough bumps.

Best $8.95 I have spent so far.:approve:

I also have a Arkon mount, it looks nice but I would not trust it unless you have it out of the case and not using a extended batt.

These still can be found at targets.

Nice find! I've been wanting a vehicle mount that isn't too costly.

for those who wants to make the power/charger adapter to fit ... I just apply a little heat at the legs corner and spread it outward ( works great ) !! :approve:

also ... after spreading the legs ... when you clipping the device to the holder ... since the clamp is adjustable ... make sure your axim is center ... because sometimes the Axim isn't center and you might figured the legs are not spread wide enough and applied more bending ... not that much necessary ... pay attention to the allignment of the Axim once it's in the clamp and bend just enough :)
I'm happy to see this thread still alive. I have been using it everyday and even in some other peoples cars and its always worked great.

I should have noted that my buddy has an accord (2005) and it doesn't with his vents. so i saw one post about accord issues.

Also, has anyone noticed the adjusments gettting lose after alot of opening and closing?

Here's the link for the holder item at Canadian Tire. I'm going to check it out tomorrow and hopefully they will have it in stock:

<edit>

I just got one from the second Canadian Tire store I checked.

Thanks to the original poster for this useful info!

It holds my Axim in the Magnum case, and allows the Dell adapter on the bottom hooked up to my Intec PSP car adapter to be used!

I have been reading these "vent mount" threads pretty closely and havce a question...

Is it OK to have the Axim in the vent mount when the heater of the car is on? Will this result in the Axim overheating?

Yea, My axim does get really chilly or warm, but not enought o hurt it. If you have the AC on you can overclock it to 2GHz cause that AC keeps it cool.

I see that Wally World (Walmart) has them as well ($9.96 US)

Only slightly cheaper than Target.

Think I will take one out for a test drive...
Thanks for the tip!

You can always shut off the vent so that the heat will not affect your Ax.

Question: Can the holder be removed from the vent after installation or is it permanent? This isn't clear from the postings I've seen above...
