Question about USB Cable
I'm looking for a cable that basicallly gives you a USB port on the X51v.

I want to get a GPS adapter that ends in a USB connection so I can use it with any computer, not just the Axim.

Will the USB cable from Dell work this way? Or is there another one that I need to purchase? Or maybe one of the GPS manufacturers includes one with their unit as an adapter?

Thanks!

Hello,

It is simply not possible. Search the forums for "USB host". You'll see why soon enough

There's a card by Ratoc that is expensive and slow (1.1); definitely not worthwhile if you can go BT. BT dongles are much cheaper and can be moved from PC to PC.

There are only very basic drivers with the card. I would make very sure drivers are available for the GPS before buying the card

I'm not sure about the need for GPS drivers per se, but I'd definitely be concerned about the availability of WM5 drivers.

I saw another thread about the CF USB adapter. Yeah, very expensive. I originally counted BT out since my laptop doesn't have it, but the adapter should be about the same cost. Yeah, I just did a quick search and amazon has a USB one for $30.

Ok, I'll just do that.

Thanks for the tips!!

I'm also going to search on "USB Host" to get the lowdown on why that won't work, just for future knowledge.

Actually, there are already PPCs with USB ports (Asus, comes to mind) but the overall specs of the X50v/X51v still outshine them all.
