Best place to buy Dell batteries for my Axim X51?
Thinking of getting a larger capacity battery for my X51. I've recently read a few threads in here that do NOT speak highly of the Mugen batteries. So where is the best place to get the real DELL batteries? Is Dell the only place? Also, probably a dumb question, but if I order directly from Dell, will they give me the new battery door with it?

Mugen are fine..

HANDS DOWN the best for the buck is interbatteries.
I've been running this battery for a while and it RULES!

$20.41 SHIPPED. Best price I could find!

I also have a Mugen 2300 mAh and I am really happy w/ it.
Very good stand by time, a bit bigger, it dont fit in most of the cases but.....

Think about an 1800 mAh battery....its just 2-3mm bigger.
Take a look:

It looks like this:

http://www.solopalmari.com/dl/img/re...batt/7batt.jpg

w/ this battery the Dell wont fit in any "normal" case.

Take a look at the posting above, the 1800 mAh battery just adds 2-3 mm to the Dell.

Geez, now I don't know where to go! What would you recommend? Sticking with Dell batteries?

I would suggest that you get another 1100mah battery and just carry it. I think it is the best solution because it dosen't bulk anything up and will be cheaper then other options.

It is a matter of preference. However, I agree with w3iner. Senior members please correct me if I'm wrong. However, I seem to have read that with a depleted 2200 or even 1800 battery, there seems to be a greater draw for more juice than an 1100 as the 1100 begins to become depleted. (there is a thread around here somewhere). Hence, what it means, unless I'm all confused (like that would be a first), is that with a 1 amp usb type charger, the window where you cannot run your axim and charge it at the same time widens with the bigger batteries as the bigger batteries start to become depleted. While this is not an issue with some of the chargers over 1 amp, it becomes an extremely significant issue with the 1 amp chargers. I have an axim on the way and afterwards I'll do some real world experimenting. But there might be cases where an 1100 battery might be superior to anything else if you plan on extensive usb charging (as such would be the case with a portable usb battery pack charger with removable 15 minute AA or AAA batteries). So I would recommend looking at your recharging strategy as a system, i.e. what kind of battery strategy, what kind of portable charging strategy, where and how I plan to do the most charging. Those of you in the know please correct me and sorry I couldn't find the thread.

kplewthfggthplewy. (I'm trying to spit it out). Asuming that I have this right, what I'm trying to say is that the corridor of no-use-axim-while-charging-on-a-usb-port is greater with the bigger batteries in some cases--heh, depending on the usb port device that you are trying to charge from. And not only that but the bigger batteries may take longer to charge back up and of course, as was pointed out, they cost more too and in some 'cases', you have to have a bigger 'case' for your axim.

I dunno. In my normal routine one battery is plenty. When I travel I have a car charger and a wall charger. I really don't like the fact of that HUGE battery sticking out the back. The dell axim should be small.

Its sad my GPS has a 1700mA battery vs my 1100 of my axim.

It looks like the larger batteries will fit and charge in the Dell X51v cradle - yes?
