InnoPocket Magnum Case
question about anyone who has this case: how tight does the case close up when its open? does it make a triangle at the hinge or does it fold up tight against the back of the case?

thanks!

i'm looking for a new case to geocache with, i'm debating the mag case or a silicone one. mag seems safer to me lol

edit: revised wording to make clearer

It is triangular. It can be close to flat, but it won't lay flat. Nice case!

Safer in the sense that it protects the AXIM from damages (scratches and drop tests)
Not safe because the clip can break off easily, its not a good design, they told me they are working on a better concept. I almost lost it when I got up from a chair. I got 2 new clips for free, hope it will last until new (improved) clips are available.

It triangles out just a little bit - about 1/8 an inch. As for protection, I drop my Ax frequently, or the kids will knock it off my desk at school, and it hasn't suffered any damage. I've had it, and the Mag case for about a year.

Great case. I have one. Have dropped my x51v on a hard floor, banged it on door frames and the corners of filing cabnets and its taken it all in its stride. keeping my x51v safe and scratch free.

After 8 months I finally broke my belt clip which is plastic, but have ordered a replacement clip for $9 so thats not too bad.

Hi,

Anyone know if Innopocket sells just the cover of the magnesium case for the Axim X51V?

An accident happened and I broke the latch of the cover.

I'm trying to contact with Innopocket, but they had not answered so far.

By the way, the Axim didn't suffer anything.

Thanks in advanced for any help.

I would think that geocaching requires something more robust, like an ottercase or similar...

Yep for outdoor work the ottercase is supposed to be the best but general protection I would also consider Rhinoskin - I had a magnum case but I liked the Rhino better.

Does the magnesium case have cutouts on the left side for the wifi/bluetooth, the lock etc?? Does the case block any buttons on the PDA? thanx

i use a rhino case right now, and while hardy, the "book style" of opening is annoying to hold it while moving around. i want something I can hold open in my palm without the cover in the way.

linkage to otter cases?

athlonduke,

The magnum case is the best. Itīs pretty and efficient.
The Axim seems to be in a protecting magnesium cocoon.
The only fragile thing is the injected plastic latch.

As I demonstrate above, I let the axim fall more or less of 1,2 meters of height in a marble floor.
The case was closed and when falling, it opened and it broke the latch, but the axim did not feel anything, because it fits pressed inside of the case, in a made velvety cocoon.

I am very sad. I think I'll have to buy a new one. It seems that the manufacturer does not want to only sell the cover of the case.
I can use it in this way, but I don't want.

Despite of everything, I recommend.

I look at the Innopocket website and it says it has a removable belt clip and post system. What does that mean? The belt clip can detach and the metal stub that holds the belt clip in place?

the belt clip is attached to the case with a screw - I don't use a belt clip with mine and there is no metal stub - just a threaded hole.

my magnum is a great case.
