What size battery?
I'm looking to buy a spare battery for my newly purchased X51v. Does a 2200 mAH fit in the standard Dell cradle spare battery slot?

Secondly would you recommend another 1100 mAH that will fit the device snugly or a high capacity and suffere the fact it won't fit most cases properly.

Your advise and experience is appreciated.

The 2200 battery fits fine in the spare battery slot on the cradle. It also charges fine on the cradle while on the Axim. As for choosing, that's going to be your preference. I have 2 extended batteries for mine, while my wife has 2 standard for hers. I actually like the extra depth as it's easier for me to hold and the much longer life span (especially when geocaching). What I would recommend (if you use a case for your unit) is to use all standard or all extended so it will fit properly in the case. I have the Piel Frama for extended batteries and it's awfully loose with the standard battery installed and not recommended.

Larger size capacity batteries require a different battery back cover. When changing from one battery to another of different capacity you will have to carry that batteries particular battery back cover with you. I actually have 2 standard Dell batteries and they do me just fine. If I were to need more battery power I would get two of the 2200 mAH ones only so I would not have to be changing out the covers with each battey change out.

Thanks guys, that's really useful. I think I will stick with two standard initially and see how I get on from there.

Thanks again.

Thats's what I did (they were on special offer at the time).. Its amazing how much more enjoyable the axim is when you don't have to worry about battery life at all

I have recently bought a 2,200 mAh battery from www.7dayshop.com for the amazingly cheap price of £7.99 (about US$15). It includes a larger back to fit the battery. I am so pleased with it that I have ordered a second one.

I have also bought the Sena extended battery case which fit the larger back perfectly and you can sync and charge the Axim in its cradle while it is still in the case.
