Student Looking for CHEAP Keyboard...

Hey everyone... I was thinking about spending a *little* bit of cash on a keyboard to take notes on in class next semester.

I have found a few including an iConcepts infrared for less than $20 shipped. Would this be adequate for just jotting down important things from lectures?

I read in the forum that somebody had a microinnovention keyboard and it didn't have a stand so it was not easy to type on your lap. This one seems to have a stand... theres a pic of it at http://static.zoovy.com/img/incipiodirect/-/1/10948 (I'm not sure if im allowed to link to images or not... sorry if I'm not)

Also.... I've seen a lot of "generic irda" keyboards, is it safe to assume that these will work properly with my axim x51v? WM5 might not like it, but I dont THINK there should be any issues.

I realize that the ports have to be aligned with infra red but I dont want to break the bank on a bluetooth keyboard, and I dont think ill really be straying that far from the axim when I'm typing.

Any opinions or suggestions for other keyboards would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks
Sean

That looks pretty cool, thanks... I didn't think they made them for x51's. Its a bit more
expensive than the ir one, but it looks a lot more portable so I'm thinking it would be worth it. Maybe ebay has some deals for this.

I did a little bit of google-ing around and found this keyboard at www.ProVantage.com . The total came to approx $26... this seems like a good deal to me so I ordered it (its a little bit cheaper on ebay but I'd rather pay a few extra dollars and go with a store). Ill let you know how it works out when I get it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the links! I read through all of them and have the driver file downloaded, extracted and ready to go... now all I need is the keyboard!

I just got home and the keyboard was waiting for me! ProVantage did a great job getting it here quick cheap and easy. I already installed it and it works great! The installation was a piece of cake and it fits on the axim nice and snug but doesnt look like its rubbing in a way that will hurt the paint finish. I think this was an excellent choice for what i need it for (thanks for the heads up Frenchy!). I need to use it for a while to get a feel for it but I think this will be a great little keyboard.

I am in the situation you are, short on cash and seeking a keyboard. I got the Belkin infared keyboard, It was 40$ from dell and you can't beat the full keyboard lay out. I would get a cheap BT mouse to go with it and you are in business.

Honestly, I've had cheap keyboards, and I just didn't use them because of the feel. I now have a ThinkOutside BT keyboard, and I LOVE it!!! You get what you pay for. Now, I actually use the keyboard, because it's full size, and responds just like a notebook keyboard (plus, BT over IR is great).
