Sinc-n-charge cable
Hello,

I want to ask an advice regarding those cables. I bought one, and it sincs but does not charge. The same thing happened to its replacement, by a different manufacturer (pdadomain.com; the original one was generic). I now found yet another one, made by Isten. Their site looks promising but I do not want to waste more money. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Welcome to Aximsite!

Unfortunately, what you have described is normal behavior due to the high power draw of the X50/X51 series. Take a look at the stickied warning thread at the top of this forum. There have been mostly positive reports about cables made from Belkin and Boxwave, but do keep in mind the power issues. You could harm your USB ports/motherboard if there are problems.

Moved to Accessories.

The above thread may give you some idea as to which sync-n-charge cables are most capable.

The typical USB port can supply 500 mA, and you need more like 850 mA and up to power and recharge your Axim. There are also different connections for USB +5V and power input.

I went thru 3 belkin usb/sync cables on my Axim x51v and none of them worked. It would cause weird flicker on the screen.

DO NOT BUY the 3-1 Travel kit for the x51v!

Is it your cables, or is it the PC you are connecting to?

I hate to go over this again but I feel the need to. The cable is nothing more then copper wire. If you are able to use a sync & charge cable then your computer can handle the current draw of the Axim (for now). If you cannot use the cable then your computer cannot handle the current. In most cases it is not the cable that makes a differance but the power source. If a company uses thin wire and is an overall low quality cable then there is a lower chance of it working then a higher quality cable but the risks and problems still exist in all Sync & Charge cables. There have been several people who have ruined their computers motherboards using these cables. Using the cables is outside of the design of the Axim and motherboard USB ports. Use one of these cables at your own risk and realize that you may destroy the computer charging your Axim.

This is the same thing I just posted in another thread. I explain whats wrong with these cables in a thread at the top of this forum. I would give up and use a normal charger.
