Great review. Very informative! I never considered a keyboard before, but you've convinced me that I need one. :)

keyboard Axim line up problem

I'm having trouble getting the Axim to "see" the keyboard. It worked for about 2 seconds and then it quit. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

Great review
Add me to the list of those now thinking about getting a keyboard.

I like the idea of the stand. There are times when I wish I had something to hold up my x51v.

Matt
One question, from the picture it isn't clear. Is the mirror on the top attached using the CF card slot?

Here's a fun question to those with BT keyboards (I have an IR one) - I know turning on BT drains the battery, but, if it's already on for wireless internet, will a keyboard add a noticable drain or not?

and how'd you get the thing to work in landscape? only way I can do this is move the axim to an angle to the keyboard so it fires directly into it's IR port...

EDIT: just FYI, if you see a "Sprint PCS IR Keyboard" it's the rebrand of this one, other than colors it's IDENTICAL

The Mirror on the top is acctually connected to the stand, and it also swiviles around to the sides so you can turn the axim down on its side.

Alternate Method for Belkin Keyboard

Hello,

I have been using F8U1500 Belkin IR keyboard everyday now. I did have a lot of issues with the keyboard and it turns out that the IR beams were not lining up just right (intermittent trans and receipt). I think the silicone case I have on the Axim elevates the IR port to the level where “not enough” IR beams were being received. I just wanted to share with everyone how I overcame this issue:

1. I made a larger mirror and attached it to the mirror using some foil wraps… this worked great but at the end of the day, I was not happy with this ad hoc solution.
2. The permanent solution is to turn the Axim upside down and put it on the stand. The IR transmitter on the keyboard needs to be about 3 inches from the IR port of the Axim and lined up. Then you can use the Function and arrow keys to rotate the screen to the right orientation. This way, I am not using the mirror at all and I am happy.

I type all my emails everyday using the method in #2 above. The letters will look a bit fuzzy or non-clear type looking but this does not bother me too much. I hope this trick will increase your enjoyment in using this Belkin Keyboard…
