Sena Case
I recently purchased a sena case. OH it feels nice in the hand... but is it good protection? And what about the magnetic closure?

The protection is not bad for a leather case. Of course, it will not come close to the protection of a hard case. But I had dropped my Axim off of my lap and it survived the fall (not that I recommend testing that or anything). The magnetic closure holds very well. I carry my axim in a very large bag and it has never come open while in the bag.

I had a Sena case for my Palm Pilot and liked it so much that I bought another one when I switched to PPC.

All I have are leather cases. I have a bellagio case and a sena case. The sena feels alot nicer in the hand, although I did find some rough spots around the digitizer opening. I actually catch my stylus on it sometimes. The magnetic closure works fine for putting in a bag or briefcase. Unfortunately, i dropped mine from about chest high onto concrete. The closure did not hold and th ax did a face plant on the concrete. It survived, but the silver rounded corners at the top as well as one on bottom, show noticable damage. Still works, but the case offered minimal protection.

My bellagio case, although leather is not quite as soft and has a raised edge around the digitizer and a magnetic snap. I have dropped it several times onto a wood deck, but not onto concrete. So don't really know if it would have protected against scrapes. The closure however did hold, so the front was completely protected, when it inevitably did the face plant. The bellagio also has the advantage of havinga little stand on the back, and enough give in the sling so that a 1800 battery will fit.

If you are hard on things, definitely go for a hard case.

Thank you! That is helpful! I have a Rhino titanium but it is so ugly & doesn't feel nice in my hand. I am in love with the feel of the Sena... but it doesn't feel very protective. Maybe I will have to switch back & forth depending on my use. I wondered if the magnetic closure could affect the PDA itself. Maybe I am thinking old school of thought... but I tend to freak when a magnet is too close to my electronics!

I know the feeling about magnets. So far no problem, and certainly, the Sena magnet definitely snaps closed. I have compact flash, sd and microdrive, all with no problems.
