Reccomend me a battery
Hi,

I'm looking around for another battery for my x50v. The standard one is just not cutting it, I can strech it to about 6 hours for music, but just one hour for WiFi (Which I do a lot of). Therefore, i'm looking to get an additional battery or a replacement battery. (When I say replacement battery, I mean a higher capacity one as opposed to another of the 1100mAh ones). Extended batteries seem like the only option, however, i'm looking for one that will allow me to use my existing dell slip-case. I'm based in the UK and overseas shipping from most sites I have looked at so far seem to charge very high prices for delivery.

So, basically, what i'm asking for is a reccomendation of somewhere I can buy an extended battery for my x50v that will fit in my existing dell slip-case and can be delivered to the UK (or from the UK, if there is a UK seller) at a reasonable price. I've seen a lot of people mention 7dayshop, however, the battery looks like it will not fit in my existing dell slip-case. Otherwise, it would make a fine battery.

An 1800 or 2200 mAH battery will fit in the slip-case. Most leather cases made for the standard battery will also accomodate the 1800maH battery, which should give you 63% more time. That six hours will become 9.8 hours. Other UK members, help him out with a good UK vendor.

edit: Here, I think LionBattery ships to UK, but I'm not sure of the rates.

Oh, check this out:
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...3c0c154bf5c2f9
it's a 2200mAH battery, fits the X50 series (my stock 1100 is a T6476).

Thanks for your response PocketBrain

That 7dayshop battery looks very interesting, but dosen't it jutt out just as much as the Mugen 3300mAh one? Does anyone know if it will fit comfortably in the dell slip-case?

I have 2 of the 7 day shop ones.. Yes they do stick out, and i did but an extended battery case.

But the 3300 one sticks out a lot more...

I don't use the slip case... it just doesn;t offer any protection at all.

I bought the 2200mAh from global batteries: http://www.global-batteries.com/adva...it=Search% 21

It came with the battery cover. I've been using it for 1.5 months. I get approx. 6 hrs of internet usage when fully charged, with about 20% left.

I know you said that you didn't want another 1100 mah one, but would not just a extra 1100 mah battery work great for you?

Switching them over is a bit of a hassle, as is carrying around something extra.

Went to the UK version of the site, reasonably priced but it looks almost exactly the same as the one from 7dayshop (Can anyone confirm this?)

Couldn't find any 3400mAh batteries there for the x50/51/v there. Highest capacity I found was 2250mAh and quite a bit more expensive than other places.

At the very least, it protects my screen. It might be a good idea to look into a proper case at some point though.

BTW, I have a 3300 mAH battery (all extended batteries come with the fitting battery cover) and my Ax looks pregnant with that thing attached. It won't fit in my leather case, and I can barely jam it into the Dell slipcase. Look at MyPDA for a picture. That thing lasts sooooo long, though.

p.s. the slipcase does provide some protection against shock, like being dropped from shoulder-height. Also protects the screen while it's in your pocket. Not much else, though.

Done a bit of further research on cases, most of them seem to open to the right and according to a revew thats not much good for left-handers (me). Is this true?

I think the 1800 mAh Batterie is pretty nice b/c it fits in all cases and 1800 mAh should be enough. (Its just 2-3 mm thicker then your original)

Take a look here:

http://www.aximcases.com/store/aximx50.html

Scroll down to the " Mugen Power Enhanced Capacity Battery 1800mAh for Dell Axim X50(v) and X51(v) "

I also offer my 2200 mAh there, very fast shipping and great support.

I use the Socket Power Pack. That thing is awesome. Sure, it's bigger than the Axim, and weighs about three times as much, but it just keeps going... and going... and going...

I took it on a trip, ran my iPod nano off it for a total of about 24 hours, came back, plugged my Axim in, and it ran that for another 9-10 hours. That's with wi-fi, bt on, and playing music.

Of course, I also have an external laptop battery with a USB power out port... about 5 times bigger than the Power Pack
