X50V Keyboard Advice
Hi,

I've been looking around for an external keyboard that I can attach (either physically, through IR or Bluetooth) to my Axim x50v, and wondered if anyone could offer any advice on the best solutions?

I want something that works first time, everytime. One of my niggles with PDA's is that something always seems to need tweaking to get it working - so the keyboard must be reliable.

Finally - is there a software alternative? A full screen keyboard that allows me to "type" (with my fingers rather than the stylus) as well as see what I'm typing?

Would be grateful for any suggestions - I've already had a look around but the options seem limited.

I have a Think Outside BT Keyboard that works great everytime. It has full size keys & folds up nice for traveling. When I got it CompUSA.com had the best price around.

Thanks mtgeorge.

The Think Outside BT keyboard is the one I was leaning towards, as I've read decent reviews elsewhere. So I've gone and ordered one from www.easydevices.co.uk for under £70.

I'll let you know how I get on with it!

I bought a new Think Outside IR keyboard and I loved it! The only disadvantage is that the unit needs to be on the holder to recieve the signal. SO I thought I needed the BT one. I bought a gently used Think Outside BT keyboard. I love it although I haven't had a chance to really try it out yet. But I wondered howBT will effect battery life. The Think Outside are QUALITY keyboards and have a nice feel to them. I think (my opinion) I liked the way the IR one opens and closes better. But as for typing feel they are similar. So it's all a matter of what you need and prefer. I left my IR keyboard with my friend in London & she just listed it on ebay UK. If you're interested in it PM me & I'll send you the link.

ThinkOutside Bluetooth Keyboard - Thumbs Up!
Hi,

Just a follow up to my earlier message.

I've been using my ThinkOutside Bluetooth Keyboard for a few weeks now, including a couple of trips away from home.

It's totally transformed the way I use my PDA when out and about! Having a keyboard, with shortcuts and the ability to move quickly between applications, makes such a difference!

After some initial niggles setting the unit up, it now works first time, every time. Key response time is good, and you can get upto a decent speed typing e-mails, documents, etc.

It's very compact to fold-away, and easy to carry around.

I'd give it a big thumbs up. It has definitely improved usability on my Dell Axim x50v.

I've had no battery problems as yet, and have used it solidly for more than 1.5 hours at a time. Now the battery life on my Axim - that's a different story. I'd definitely pack a portable USB charger. But those issues are down to my upgrade to Windows Mobile 5 on my Dell Axim x50v.

Now if only I could get Windows Mobile 5 to be stable and reliable...
