And now the curious thing:
No cracking sound anymore! It is replicable: If I kill HackMaster while mortplayer continous to stream, the cracking sound appears. If I start HackMaster and set to the 416/208/104 setting, cracking sound is listenable :approve:
Holy canoli! I don't know what happened, but I'm not getting the cracks and pops in my audio anymore--w00t! Ironically, while gufoe's hack in Pocket Hack Master got me started, it wasn't what fixed it:

- After reading gufoe's quote, I feel brave enough to install and run Pocket Hack Master. During the 416 Mhz test, my Axim X50v locks up completely. I do a soft reset and... nothing. Ax doesn't respond to soft resets or the power button! Gaaack! :realmad: I take out and put back the battery. Now Ax powers on but insists on a hard reset. I say ok. All of main memory is wiped, but at least it's not bricked, and the data on my SD card is still there.

- First thing I do is install the HP Broadcomm bluetooth driver. Then I reinstall all my apps, except I avoid any today screen plugins as I don't use them anyways. For kicks, I try out the Logitech bluetooth headphones with MortPlayer and wonder of wonders, the sound is clean! CorePlayer works great as well. I didn't rerun Pocket Hack Master.

So basically what fixed the pops and clicks was a hard reset and clean reinstall. I think another difference was that I avoided any today screen plugins. Anyways, despite spending half the day restoring my Axim, I'm quite happy that the bluetooth headphones finally sound awesome without the adapter! :approve:

Oh man! I didn't check the board for one day and all this happens . . .

Possibility of clean sound? Decision, decision - hard reset or not . . .

alantdc, you don't happened to have the HP Broadcomm download link handy? :D Does the HP Broadcomm have a diverse set of drivers/connection types as the Widcomm? I wondered what if I install the HP Broadcomm on top of the Widcomm? Does that means you are now running MS A2DP with HP Broadcomm drivers only? Any hacks like flow control/Block/SubBlock? Does the headphones pair quickly with the X51V and ready to use immediately?

My apologies for so many questions, too excited!!

xflyboy, I think the HP Broadcomm (see link page 1) is only for WM 2003 not WM5. I checked the link and that's what they say. Also if you do a search on Aximsite there was a lot of talk about this about 9months ago.

xflyboy, the HP Broadcomm driver is ONLY for WM2003. What I would try is gufoe's hack with Pocket Hack Master. Actually, make sure you do a soft-reset and backup everything before running it, as any error during speed testing will brick your X51v. In the worst-case scenario, you'll have to do a hard reset anyways. Good luck!

p.s. I need to apologize to those of you who are using the Logitech bluetooth headphones without hearing the crackles and pops in audio . You guys are not tone deaf. Now we all know this is a system issue with a couple of potential fixes.

Thanks for the headups, hoochimagoo & alantdc.

After hours of looking for the CURE, I uninstalled the Widcomm to see if the rumour of MS A2DP existence is true. It does exists on the A12 ROM (06200600) and the Logitech BT headphones does pairs up without any fanfare. At first, there are still popping noises but no skipping. These are the two main reasons I uninstalled the Widcomm. However, I greatly missed the different profiles and functions offered by Widcomm which is not present in the MS BT. I'm afraid I'll ventured down the GPS path soon and the MS BT might not be suitable to handle anything but the Dell-branded GPS (as indicated by numerous searches).

What I have noticed with the naked MS BT is the inability to co-exist while wifi is on. Perhaps the above statement is also true for any application that competes for processor resource with BT. There were major cutting in and out of the music as I was running MP3 in TCPMP through MS A2DP and initiated WiFi connection to the internet. When the web page finished loading, the music with pops becomes uninterrupted again . I did not have this problem with the Widcomm and the associated hacks. Needless to say, I'm still looking for the alternative to the MS BT. There is no way I'm hobbled to one or the other task because I'm limited by the OS!!!

I think I'll have to restore a recent backup to avoid the dreaded hard reset and roll back the MS BT episode . I would like to personally witness this fabled no-popping sound set of Logitech/HP BT headphones!!!!:rolling:

Any more ideas and insights are greatly welcomed.

Hey guys, some more insight: the other day I realized that I hadn't reinstalled the driver for my ThinkOutside Bluetooth Keyboard. After that was done, the clicks and pops through the Logitech Bluetooth headphones came back--Gaaa! I thought maybe my ears were playing tricks on me, so I uninstalled the keyboard driver. And the noise was gone! Very interesting... Anyone know why the keyboard driver is affecting the headphones?
