All I want is a working car charger! Please Help!!!
Hi,

As the title says, all I want is a car charger (NOT USB) capable of providing the power needed to run the X50v when using bluetooth GPS on a semi-depleted battery.

I went to Walmart and picked up the Pelican car charger, but it was the USB version, so doesn't work. Then I went online and ordered what seemed to be the correct charger from Walmart, but when it arrived it was the USB version as well! (I'm now fighting with them to get a shipping refund because that wasn't what was described).

Anyway, I give up. Can someone please tell me where I can get a car charger that will definately do the job...please???

Thanks!

Edit: Hooray, 100th post!!!

The reason the ones you purchased do not work is they are designed for the PSP which has lower current requirements then the x50 series.

The one I use came along with a GPS unit from Buy GPS Now. This charger has a plug thats the same size as the Axim charger. Because my GPS unit uses this same plug as well I can use it with this cable and charge both my GPS unit and Axim at the same time. I have not had a single case yet where the car adapter was unable to provide enough power for both the Axim and GPS.

Try the Belkin charger. It charges under all circumstances. I have the 3 in one kit that includes this charger. http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=191843

USB is not the problem, it is the current capacity of the charger and how the cable is wired. Belkin did it right. Use the code 12345 for a 40% discount if it still works.

I like the Seidio car mount, charges both the Ax and the GPS receiver.
I prefer the vent mount (as shown) vs the suction cup windshield mount, have both.

Posted before by a number of forum members, including myself. Those with the Seidio mount
seem to enjoy trouble free, no nonsense road experience.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The reason I specified that the non-working Pelican charger is USB is because it's been well established that the non-USB Pelican has enough power to do the job, but obviously the USB-version doesn't. It seems that typically chargers that use a USB-style converter have a lower max current, maybe with the exception of the Belkin. Of course, if the USB-style cord delivers enough power, you should never plug it into an actual USB port!

Does anyone know if the Dell car charger has a high enough current limit (here)? Thanks!

Another vote for the Belkin.

I am using an Intec PSP Car adapter successfully using a Holux GPSlim 236 BT with my Axim.

It costs only $9.99 CAD @ Future Shop/Best Buy.

I see no reason why it would not be compatible with the X51V. Also, the 12345 discount code still appears to be working

I just checked--using the 12345 code changes the price to $13.79. Don't know about a Canadian site.

There is a pretty good summary of the situation here: http://pc-mobile.net/x50note.htm

I wouldn't buy their adapter because it's only rated at 850 mA, but they seem to understand the situation. The bottom line is that you need at least 1-2 Amp capacity AND to have the right pins connected in the cable.

One more question about the Belkin.. What about the cord length ? Is it comparable to the one seen on the picture ?
