Another HS820 Question
Hi!

I just got a Motorola HS820 headset. Paired it to my x50v and it worked great. Audio came through and a single click of the answer button would redirect audio to the PDA, another click brings it back again. Perfect.

Connected to my computer (intergrated HP bluetooth module). Didn't work quite so well, but eventually got it to the point where I could manually direct the audio through the computer, but not the headset. Fine.

Went back to my PDA, and it refused to connect. I know the instructions say that the headset will try to connect back to the computer, so I turned the computer's BT off and tried to force a connect from the PDA. Nothing. In the end I unpaired and repaired the headset. Works perfectly again.

Went back to the laptop. Nothing. PDA is turned off, but the laptop cannot connect to the headset. I'm not going to unpair and repair the headset every time I change devices!!!

Any ideas? I must be missing something. Please - otherwise this is going back!

Thanks

Usuallly a headset will only pair with one thing at a time, so you will have to pair with the computer each time you use it, or pair to the X50 each time.

But the instructions specifically state it will pair with 8 devices.

Anyone else know anything about this?

It will hold the pairing information for up to 8 devices, but won't pair up with 2 devices at the same time.

I think you're using the words incorrectly. "Pair" means to hold another device in memory and recognize it in the future. This headset should be able to pair with 8 devices at once.
"Connect" means the headset is currently talking to this other device (ie, when talking on your phone with the headset).

Of course the headset will only connect to one device at once, but it should pair with 8. The problem is that the pairing isn't remembering two devices, or that it won't connect to a paired device even if the other one is no longer connected.

Anyone else know what's going on?

Someone MUST have a Motorola headset paired to two devices...please tell me how you did it!

I have this same problem with my stowaway mouse. If it connects to the PDA I can just turn it on and click a button and it will connect to my PDA, but if I have been using it with my laptop I will have to redo the search each time on my PDA. Just stop using it with one or the other if you hate pairing so much.

I don't know if I'd really call that a solution

Sorry about that Monobeg, I meant connect to one device at a time. I just got my HS810 out and paired it with my phone, computer and x51v. Paired up fine on all three and connects fine, with all three. But, I am using a motorola bluetooth usb adapter on the laptop, and widcomm stack on the x51v. I had a dlink bluetooth adapter, and had nothing but problems with it, pairing and connectiing. Not much help.
