Question Printing xls, NOT pxl, files from windows mobile 5.0 - how?

x51v owner here.

need to produce quotes on site via excel template & print for clients.

there're proggies available to print from windows mobile pda's, ie:

PrintBoy http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/pbce.htm

or

PrintPocketCE http://www.fieldsoftware.com/PrintPocketCE.htm

however, they only print excel documents that are in .pxl format, which is pre windows mobile 5.0 - as mobile 5.0 pocket excel saves in .xls format & isn't supported by these printing proggies.

anyone know of a print utility program that does support it?

or another method of printing?

ie:

if a printer has bluetooth or infrared, can i beam the file to it as if i was going to send it to another pda?

if a printer has an sd and/or compact flash card slot, can i save the file to a card, remove the card from the pda, pop it in the printer & print the xls file from there?:? if so, how would i select the file/worksheet i wanted to print? is there a menu on a screen on the printer? i'm completely unfamiliar with such devices.

there's got to be a way to print from the latest version of pocket excel & windows mobile... who knows what it is? (and please tell me.:))

*if there's a more appropriate forum to post this in, please post and let me know - i'll ask there too.

cheers,
richard

anyone?

i emailed HP re: their 460 series printers and their response was lame/didn't help.

i might call their toll free number and ask. (re: printing from sd/compact flash card)

a local retailer said he'd look into it on the 460c's cd guide. i'll go back soon and see what he may have found out.

I was looking for a print solution about 6months ago and was unable to find one. I was after a solution that was completely free from a PC. The closest thing I came up with was this: http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/jetcet/

maybe you could use ActivePrint
this one is the newest version which is web based: http://www.apx5.com/ (you send your documents in an e-mail to an apx5 account on their webpage, a client on your PC (either home oder office) get this information and print it on your local printer)

or if you don't like this your can try this: http://activeprint.pocketwatchsoftware.com/index.html (old version but it's a program you can install on your device)

There are several ways that you can print.
Yes, if the printer has a card reader that will work. Some have a screen, some don't.
You could also use a Bluetooth Print adapter, that would probably be the easiest way.

You don't say whether you want to print from your own printer (which you would have to carry around with you) or from each clients printer.
If it's the clients then you will have a different problem each time.
Perhaps if you buy a small portable printer with BT if possible or add the adapter so that you can just plug in your stuff at the client and away you go.
