TRENDnet CF ethernet card won't get IP adress
I just bought a TRENDnet CF ethernet card and it won't get an IP adress. I installed the driver from my PC with no errors. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I have a Socket CF LAN card installed as well. They look identical. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is only one CF slot, so what do you mean when you say you also have a Socket CF LAN card installed?

I have the Trendnet CF ethernet card, but I no longer use it. When I did use it, it would get an IP address on some networks, but not on some other networks. There was even one network where it got an IP address OK at first, but after a while it stopped getting an IP address. Very irritating when travelling. Not wanting to waste time (=money) troubleshooting, I bought D-Link's pocket-sized D-link wireless router and simply use WiFi when I travel.

Some users have reported they had this card working well with their X51 until they installed the A12 ROM, after which it would not work.

Son of a... That's not the answer I wanted to hear. By installed, I mean the drivers. I own both cards which seem identical. Socket works, TRENDnet doesn't. I don't get it. I have WiFi, but prefer wired when downloading large files such as Back Country Navigator maps. I also use it for work to troubleshoot networks. I bought a second so I can keep one at work.

The Trendnet card does work. I had it working fine on my home network and on my work network. It's just that when travelling, it let me down a few times in situations where I couldn't afford to spend the time to figure out what was wrong. The pocket wireless router is a much more reliable solution for me.

Take a look at these two threads, which were very helpful in getting my Trendnet card working on my home network:
