I have an Axim X51, and the Ambicom wireless CF card works wonderfully with it. The only concern is that it uses up the battery slightly faster, so be sure you have your power settings arrranged appropriately.
ok thanks for the info. i do have the cd that came with it. i waiting on cradle to come in the mail. i been waiting forever it seems like. glad to know the card will work
I have the Dell Axim 51v and I got the Ambicom CF card, which came with a CD. I had it on the cradle when using the cd to install the driver, but it still won't recognize the card. Now what should I do?
Can you tell which version of the drivers was on the CD? The Ambicom website that Gigi linked to above has Windows Mobile 5.0 (beta) drivers that are probably newer than the ones on the CD.
You should uninstall the current drivers (probably in the remove programs on the Axim) bevore installing the new ones. Also, do not hvae the card in place when you install the drivers.

I have the Ambicom 2.5 and it has some problems. When I use it, the card starts blinking so it is working, but it slows everything down on the Axim, and I got an error message for the driver.exe thing. Is it using too much memory? I have it plugged in so it ins't the battery. I am not at home so I am trying to use wi-fi hot spots. I just got this card. Is it trashed or is there somehting else I can do? I tried the soft-reset, and there's barely anything on the Dell Axim.
I'm not sure what the '2.5' stands for but if the Ambicom card is the '802.11b' card, you could try the Perfect Prism drivers. Delete the Ambicom drivers first.
Frankly, I'm not surprised the Axim acts slow with two sets of wireless drivers install. The device really wasn't designed for handling two wireless devices and I suspect there are some conflicting registry entries.

Hi Ike,
How would I uninstall the other driver so I can use the Ambicon card?
Go into the Start, Settings, System (tab) and Remove Programs to remove the Ambicom drivers.
Then go to http://prism.tjtech.org/index.htm to download the Perfect Prism file. Unzip it and copy the cab to your Axim and run it from a file explorer.
I have no idea if this will work any better. As I mentioned, having the built in wireless could be affecting how well any CF card will work.
