Wi-Fi Card for X51
Hi, just bought an Axim X51, but have been told i need a wifi card to get connected to the net via my netgear wireless router. Can anyone reccommend a decent budget card.

Many Thanks......

Welcome to Aximsite!

Which model X51 do you have? Only the 416MHz model does not have built-in wifi so be sure to check that is the model you have. You can also check to see if a the Dell WLAN utility is available under Settings - Connections. If it's there, then you have wifi.

If you do really need a card, make sure the one you get has WM5 drivers (very few do). From what I have read, a card by Spectec works well with the X51.

Moved to Accessories.

Dell has them on for $88US ($113CAD) or eBay for $1,000,000.00

I have the same x51 416 low model and I really like the Ambicom wireless compact flash card. Purchased from Dell for $50. Good luck and congrats on your new toy!

Have you thought about exchanging your X51-low for an X51-mid or X51v? The incremental cost in upgrading far outweighs the cost of a new wifi card, the added hassle of managing it, and the fact that your CF slot is gone. In my old HP 2215, I had an Ambicom wifi card. It worked well; however, the only way to shut off wifi was to yank the card out! Not sure if it's simpler on the X51, but just a note.
