If you are like me who has just bought an Axim, most probably you are looking ups and downs, lefts and rights just to get some accessories for your Axim but disappointedly you cannot get those accessories selling at most of the PDA shops around the region as most of them are selling Ipaq’s and Dopod’s. The only way to get some Axim accessories is order from overseas website (besides from DELL) which you have to bear an expensive shipping cost.
For weeks I’ve been searching throughout the Internet to look for a decent case at a good price for my Axim X51. Finally I found this company ACEV. ACEV has a branch at Singapore which they claimed they are the regional distributor for Krusell product in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. I contacted the company and get a very quick reply. I’m impressed with their customer service. I’ve been dealing with this guy name Alwin Chan from ACEV and closed a deal with him satisfactorily
OK now let’s talk about the case. First view on the package, it has a very nice packaging where a hard cardboard type material package with a magnetic enclosure nicely pack the Krusell Dell X51 Handit Multidapt Leather Case (Actually it fits X50/X51/X51V/X50V). Open up the package, there is the leather case with a white color sponge inside the case with a clips and a swivel removable belt clip attached at the while color sponge. Inside it comes with a small piece of papers that teaches you how to use the Multidapt clip and some others Multidapt accessories advertisement.
First feel of the case, I must say the leather is very good quality. Information from aximcases website mentions that it was made from high quality nappa leather. It has a very smooth feels and looks professional with a nice silver badge at the front of the case with the brand and logo of Krusell on it. Initially I must say I found the case to be very appealing, especially for the price that I have paid.
At the back of the case it has Krusell's multidapt mount. You have to slide in the clip that comes with the package in order to hook it into the swivel removable belt clip. On the back there are two snap buttons that you can choose which one you want to snap-in for the case strap. If you have a very thick front lid where you have put a lot of cards inside the pockets/slots of the case, you may want to choose the lower snap button in order not to put the pressure on your Axim screen. I would say this is a very nice design. There is a hole or cut-out at the back of the case for you to push the reset button. This make easier for you to do a soft/hard reset.
When you open the leather case, you can see there are 5 pockets/slots at the front case cover, 2 for the SD/MMC memory card, 1 most probably for the CF card or anything that’s same size like it and 2 for the credit card or any of your shopping cards.

You can feel that the thickness of the front case cover/lid is slighty thicker where there is some kind of sponge like material is sandwiched in between the leather to create more protection for the Axim screen when you close the front case cover.
On the left side of the case there are holes/cut-outs for the Lock, Record, and WiFi/Bluetooth buttons. Krusell case gives more protection to your Axim if we compare with the stock case we can buy from DELL as more area of the Axim PDA will be covered by the leather. But people like me will ask for more, there are area where the curve/corner at the bottom of the Axim (Right hand side and left hand side) have cut-outs which I wish it should be covered. Maybe it’s too hard for them to make such case, as it’s a curve/corner position?
When I slide my X51 into the case, I can see there are cut-outs for the Power Button, WiFi/Bluetooth Light, those buttons at the bottom of Axim (Calendar, Contacts, Navigation buttons, etc) and Mic. But for the Mic cut-out there is some sort of mesh/net covering the cut-out. At the bottom of the case, there is a cut-out for the sync cable connector. But you will not be able to put your Axim into the cradle when you have Krusell case on it, unless you are using the sync cable instead of the cradle. Sync cable fits nicely into the cut-out. Inside the case where we slide our Axim in is covered with some sort of soft velvet material. I like this material as it make me feel like the soft material won’t leave any scratches on my X51.
When you close the front case cover, there is another cut-out at the top of the case for the headphone jack but the cut-out is slightly off center (misalign). I have hard time to get my headphone plug into the jack at the first time when I have Krusell case on my X51, but after several times of adjusting and trying, finally I’ve got everything fits. Maybe they should consider re-align the cut-out or make the hole bigger.
Now, let’s see the Multidapt mount. Everything works perfectly. The Multidapt mount is strongly attached to the leather case. But how long the swivel removable clip will last, it’s too early to tell but I hope the plastic material used for to make the Multidapt mount and the swivel clip will not break easily as compare with those cheap cases.
Overall, I must say I really like the Krusell case but there are some improvements Krusell can do to make it even a better case. The look of the case is very professional and no doubt this is the quality product that I’m looking for. For the price that I’ve paid for, I feel that this is a decent case for the budget-minded people like me.
