So, in my impatient spending spree on eBay while waiting to take delivery on my new Axim x50v--I bid on--and won this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200071368020
Now, something I overlooked upon initially bidding:
The auction has 2 pictures. The pictures are of a MALE VGA cable, and a FEMALE VGA cable (quite a difference). I recieved the MALE cable.
The auction description states "MALE VGA", however mentions you can plug this adapter right up to a monitor CABLE (which is male, and requires a FEMALE adapter).
I was *trying* to order the FEMALE cable (most older/cheaper monitors have a hardwired VGA cable--requiring a MALE-MALE adapter for this damn cable to work).
My final gripe about this auction is its shady description. Something that I should have picked up on for the volume of transactions I do on eBay. The auction states "Item comes in it's original manufacturer's packaging". Well, the item came in a generic resealable hanging bag with a simple paper "x51v" sticker on it. No software, no instructions, no paperwork at all! This doesnt seem like real retail packaging... but considering I unscrewed the part of the adapter that connects to the Axim (being nosey) and saw the quality of the soldering connections (obvious hand-made soldering connections)... I guess the packaging makes sense?
Worst of all, there's nowhere for auxiliary power... Making this cable that much more useless!!!!
I'm cheap and frisky so I'll most likely find a circuit schematic and solder in a power connector myself... since I'm stuck with this thing.
Just thought I'd share my rant as a "heads up" to anyone currently in the market for a VGA cable. I'm seeing a lot of posts/questions about them so I thought I'd share my experience.
