I want music in my car
O.K. I tried a Cassette to ipod adapter, and it only plays music on the right side. But nothing above a whisper comes on the left. Besides buying a new sterio for my car, (I would if someone here wants to paypal me the money ) is there another way? What do you use? or is there just a problem with my adapter or Axim?

I use a casette adapter for my ipod and it works great. Make sure your adapter is good. Also, when you use headphones on your iPod, does it play in both ears? If so, then you need a new casette adapter. That is your best bet.

O.K. don't have an Ipod, use too, but with the ability to have all the music I can listen to on little bitty SD cards, why have two. So I got rid of the Ipod. I plugged the axim into the adapter and put it into the car sterio. So maybe I will go to Best Buy and pick up a new adapter to try, the $2 one (includding shipping) I got off eBay might be no good. Hmm wondered why so cheap. LoL Thanks for the reply.

If you have a third party deck, you may have rear aux input. Aux input will give you much better sound quality than cassette or fm transmitters. Check this thread:

Nope, have a OEM AM/FM cassette in my 96 Dakota. And didn't want to spend the $$ on a new stereo, since I do like the sound anyway. When it warms up, I will probably hook up my 10 CD deck to it, but was looking for an alternative. It's like 3 degrees out side now, and no garage.

your cassette device is definately bad, there is a faulty wire connection. Chuck it and go to Walmart's and buy a brand new one for $10.00. A much better and cheaper altnernative to the radio connection device too (as long as you have a tape deck to connect it to). Have fun!

Just a quick check before you chuck anything away or spend more money.
If your deck has an auto reverse function press the button to send the tape (adaptor) in the other direction and see if that makes any difference. Otherwise follow DotanCohen's flow chart.

Went to Best Buy, picked up a new cassette adapter. Listened to In-Da-godda-da-Vida in 4 speaker stereo all the way home. Thank you and everyone who replied .

I have absolutely no idea who you were listening to (it wasn't Jimmy Buffett) but at least you had a good outcome.
Stick around.

It is a song by Iron Butterfly. I love the song, all 17 minutes of it. It took a whole album side.

Boy, you're really dating yourself. (Of course, I won't admit I knew EXACTLY what you were referring to.)

It was my entrance song into my teenager years. Just turned 13 a few months after this song came out. Has been my favorite for 39 years. I still like it as much as I did in '68
