Bigger Battery = Bigger Life?
A bigger battery does increase the life of the PDA, however if the battery is double than the one that comes with the x51v, does it mean it will run twice as long? For any of those who have a double or larger size battery, please let me know if you like it better to have a bigger one battery or two normal sized ones.

Thanks,

Well, a double sized battery will technically have twice the capacity, but given that it is not wise the completely flatten the battery completely, many people will swap-out the pack at ~10-15%. This means a double sized battery could actually give you more than double normal use, potentialy...

The trouble with this speculation is that; if you have a double sized battery you are very likely to use more heavily, so wont get double the hours after all

To me, the thing that kept me from upgrading to a larger capacity battery was that I was set on buying the Inno mag case and I love it ...at the expense of not being able to easily swap batteries and the inability to have any battery larger than the OEM 1100mAh one.

If I were to do it again I would seriously consider looking at other case alternatives and picking up the 2200mAh battery, perhaps the 3300mAh one.

Then again, I love my case.

I mainly use my pda for text input, text reading, and GPS.

When only doing text with the screen on 50% I have not ran out of power when using all day. I do not know the limits.

With screen on 100% and TomTom running I got just under 4 hours on the battery. That was an accident. I forgot to plug my Axim into the charger. The battery shuts off at 10% due to my settings in UpTime Meter.

That is my real world experience with the 2200.

What about batteries from Ebay? Are they as unreliable as everything else from there?

I would be wary about batteries from Ebay, or anything of questionable quality that might fry your Axim. 2200mah batteries are going for $37 on aximcases.com, a very reputable site. This isn't that unreasonable.

Another variant of the age-old debate: "Does size matter"?

I use one of those dreaded 2200mah batteries bought off Ebay (~$15 if memory serves me)

Pro's-
It didn't fry my Axim
It lasts at least twice as long as the OEM
It's door fits better than OEM. No "battery latch was unlocked" warnings (guess you get what you pay for! )

Con's-
Battery sticks out the back like a pregnant guppy
Increased weight
The Axim is unbalanced when sitting on its back.

I would be much happier with a design that increased the thickness of the device evenly! This is the last Axim I'm buying !

I have three 1100mah batteries (fits in my hard case) and a travel charger that has an auto adapter.

IMO an Axim x51v should never have less than 3300mAh.
5 1/2hours of Wi-fi/BT has sold me.
A Piel Frama (Hi batt) case, cleans up the look nicely..

I have been using Ebay cheep bataries for the past 4 years--the cheepest I can get from the best seller based upon thier reviews. I have not heard of one person complain that their battery has burnt up their Axim. I have had no problems with them--except once, they sent me the wrong size. They then credited my account for the price of the lessor item. That was good for me. 2200 has worked fine as I reported above. I keep two with me and rarely have to use the extra one.
