New batteries or external battery pack?
After using my X51v for 2 years, I noticed my two 1100 batteries are getting weaker. I'm thinking of getting another 1 or 2 1100s. I dont plan to get bigger capacity ones because my case wouldn't fit them. Instead of buying from Dell, I'm getting generic ones(little bit cheaper but I save on shipping). Are they reliable compared to original Dell battery?

Or should I get an external battery pack? Any recommendations?

If you have a soft (i.e., leather) case that has some give, I would recommend an 1800 battery. It has extra capacity at a slightly larger size.

As for the generic batteries, post the manufacturer to see if others have had specific experiences. A battery external battery pack is an option, but adds bulk. I only use those when I need my Axim for extended periods of time (e.g., on a plane).

I have two batterys for my X51V also. I swap them out on a end of the day basis each day. Some of the time I swap them out during the day with lots of wifi or movie viewing. Both of my batteries have been only charging up to 85%. I requested two replacements for them from Dell (I have a 2 year complete care contract with Dell). They sent me replacements for both batteries and a replacement for my X51V (just in case it was the unit not the battieries causing this issue). I kept the unit since it came as hardware revision level A12 (mine was as A00) and a ROM revision level of A12 (mine was at A12 through upgrades). The batteries both now charge up fully to the 100% reading. If this is normal I will probably have to do this next year also (ahead of my contract ending date of course).
