The antivirus isn't necessary, as for the gps...mine isn't coming until Wednesday, so I'm no help, but check out the GPS forum...it's a wealth of information

to aximsite!

iGuidance is a great GPS program, as far as the GPS receivers, I have an older CF Holux unit that works very well (with external antenna). A lot of folks use a Bluetooth one but do have some troubles. You can start reading up here.

I have the Haicom Multi-Mode GPS Receiver HI-303III CF GPS receiver. The SiRF III receiver works really well. I can even get a GPS lock inside my house, next to the window. You can pick one up for <$80.00 or $70.00 for a comparable SiRF III model.

I also have a GlobalSat BT-308 bluetooth GPS, but I don't use this much. I have bunch of different accessories paired with my X51V, so I rather free up the BT bandwidth.

With a CF GPS, you won't need to worry about carrying another charger with you.

I have the iGuidance and it works great. It's fast to calculate and re-calculate. I used TomTom (old version) before on a Toshiba Pocket PC and it was really slow.

I'm using iGuidance in real VGA mode and the letters are a little small, but the display is awesome. Only problem is the 3D mode does not work in this mode. The 2D mode work fine.

I grabbed some generic no name solar gps off ebay for about $50. It works nicely in the car but it feels a little fragile to tote around with me. The acquisition times are a little long sometimes, but have been sufficient for my recent trips into unknown streets. The solar recharge feature is of course very nice _in theory_. But is pretty useless if I don't carry it around with me. Those GPSes with the auto on feature, like the iBlues sound nice. It's a little annoying having to reach over to push the button every time I get in the car.

So ebay is a good place to poke around. They've got gear that will get the job done without killing your wallet.

Is your gps going to be used mainly for Car navigation? or will you walk around with it too?
