Any reason I can't re-use my HP H2215 AC adapter?
I just bought a second dell cradle so I can have one at home and another at work. Since the dell cradle does not come with the AC adpater, i was planning on buying one. But then I noticed that the HP H2215 I'm replacing uses the same size plug. Both have a positive tip, and similar power output. The difference I can see is the Dell adpater claims to out put 5.4V and 2.41A, while the HP adapter claims 5V and 2A. Checking with a mutilmeter, the dell adpter actually puts out 5.6V and the Hp adapter puts out 5.2V. Not sure about actual amperage, though.

I shouldn't be able to harm anything using the slightly lower output adapter, but is there any reason I should not use the HP adpater rather than buying a new one?

There is no reason that I can think of. IIRC you can charge your Axim with a USB cable and the spec. for USB is 5.0V.

the reason you measured slightly higher voltages is that there was no load on the chargers ie: not connected to the pda and the current draw depends on the load so as long as the voltage isnt significantly higher than the specified level then you have no worries

Thanks to both of you. I was pretty sure I'd be OK, but just wanted to hear if there was something I wasn't thinking of.
