Wireless anywhere internet for X51v
I just ordered my Axim X51v. I'm looking forward to having this option, rather than having to carry my laptop with me when I'm out of town for just a day.

However, with my laptop I have an air card that gives me access to the internet anywhere. It isn't a WiFi connection, but allows me to connect absolutely anywhere.

Does anyone know if there is any way to get such a service for the axim? Is there anyone that sells such cards for PDAs?

Any help would be appreciated!

I use a bluetooth cell phone and connect via it (almost anywhere).

Thanks. How is the connection speed that way? If you do that - does your connection get severed if a call comes in?

Thanks!

Connection speed is pretty decent using the Opera Browser for pdas. Have a Cingular Motorola Razr using bt as modem with unlimited IE. When call comes in, there is no disconnect @ all.

I think the bluetooth 1.x limitation is 723kbps, so if your phone can support speeds faster than that then you might feel that it might be slow compared to your laptop.

Hi, welcome to Aximsite, I am sure you will greatly enjoy your x51v. May I ask which aircard you use for the laptop? I have been looking at both the Verizon and the Sprint aircards, they are currently at around $59.99 a month for service though.

Thanks

It's a verizon card. It's supplied by my company, so I don't know what it costs.

I took a quick look on the Verizon personal wifi site and they advertise cards from $180 to $50, depending on the specs you want. I suspect it is the same for Sprint.

However, personally, the only places I seem to need wifi that it isn't freely available, is in the airports. But then again, I feel they should allow that anyway.
