Seagate 8GB Microdrive
I just received mine from Frys.com, and I’m very happy. However, I do have ONE question…
How do I pull it out?
Not that I really need that, but supposing I want to load files directly on my PC card reader, or just to showcase the card, or to get the serial number for registration... The CF card I used so far has a lip where you can hook your finger nail and pull it out. If I use tweezers, I’m afraid I would scratch the sticker, or who knows what else.
Thanks all!
Note: reposted from Newbies forum, where you never can get an answer. I guess it's only us, newbies, that read and post there.

Don't know about the reposting, and sorry we haven't answered you question. If you search this site for the seagate microdrive you will find several posts that talk about how difficult it is to get the MD out of the ax. But there are also solutions. I used a chip puller to take it out the first time. Then I attached a piece of library tape with a tab. The tab slips between the MD and the SD slot. when I need to take it out, I use the stylus to pull out the tab and pull out the MD. Be careful not to cover the little hole on the back of the card.
I used this very successfully for over a year!
So, please know, there are alot of very helpful people hear and a wealth of info using the site search features. enjoy.

When I first got mine it was difficult to pull out. I will get easier over time.

I made a "flap" of clear packing tape. I made sure to cut an angle corner on the side that has the vent hole for cooling. The tape is stuck to the card, at the top, folds over the card and goes back down into the axim an 1/8 inch. I use the stylus to lift it out so I can grab it and pull out the card. This works out great.

Thanks a lot guys,
I'll be honest with you, once I inserted the card I realized it will be hard to pull it out. But I didn't realized that it will be that hard. I'm really glad I asked you, and I didn't have to re-invent the "Seagate extraction procedure".
Now that's in, how do I remove first time? Tweezers with some thin rubber sheet for protection?
Thanks again,
Alex

I have a tweezer-type chip puller in a computer tool set that worked great. The are thinner than regular tweezers and also instead of being straight at the end have a slight hook. I have used those - carefully -- for well over a year.
Tweezers may be too thick, however, there is a very thin rim around the card, if you make sure you engage this rim with tweezers or even a small jewelry flatblade screwdriver - again very gently - you can disengage the card, then pull it out with your fingers. It sounds worse than it is. Good Luck.

Thanks a lot for your advice! I haven't had yet time to work on that, but I appreciate having at least a plan.
Cheers, :)
