Aximsitebluetoothicon Bluetooth AVRCP help

OK. I am hoping that someone with more experience with AVRCP can help me figure things out here.

I am using an Axim x50v with WM 2003SE and the Widcomm BT stack. I downloaded the high quality audio driver from HP's web site so I could pair my Axim with BT headphones.

I have paired my Axim with the Motorola HT820 and the new Plantronics Pulsar 260.

While the A2DP stereo sound seems to be working fin, the AVRCP controls are not being recognized by my device (I have tried this with TCPMP, Pocket Player and CorePlayer).

Is there any way to get the AVRCP controls working here, or am I just SOL?

Thanks,

Doug

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't get the AVRCP to work when I did my headphone review (pardon the shamless plug of this excellent review for which I spent hours on).

Menneisys article on AVRCP

The above article says, (referring to the update for wm2003se only)
Quote:
Unfortunately, this update has severe problems: no matter what model it’s installed on, the sound transfer will just stop after some dozens of minutes and can only be restarted by explicitly disabling Bluetooth on the PDA and, then, reconnecting to the headphone (fortunately, no soft reset is necessary). This makes listening to music wirelessly really painful on the long run.
If you have wm5, you should have no problem. I don't know what OS you have Doug.

I have WM2003SE, for fear of the WM5 upgrade (which is still sitting on my desk, unopened).

I read Menneisyys' article as well as several others he wrote, and I still cannot get AVRCP to work. It used to work, but then I had to do a hard reset a while back and it stopped.

BT is such an amazing technology. Why can't they make it easy to use??

Doug, I got it to work. I was trying to play music on GS Player, which, to my knowledge, doesn't support AVRCP. But TCPMP does. Just go to Options > Settings > Select Page > Advanced > Widcomm BT Audio button Support and you're good to go.

Check out this thread for more. I wish I knew about this when I did my review. But I was so sick of reading pages and pages of posts on how to just get it to work. Now it's so easy.

My ARVCP works fine. I have x50v with 2003se, widcomm stack, TCPMP, BlueAnt x5 headset. The up and down volume buttons can advance and go back tracks and the function button can pause and restart the player. The volume buttons need to be held down for a second or two to change tracks, a quick press and release adjusts volume!

Well, I have TCMP .72rc1. I do not have the choice to select widcomm BT button option. It does not work for me.

I do have button support with WMP and Mortplayer. I would love to get it to work with TCMP cause it would make listening to my podcasts much easier. Also I'm using wm5, Widcomm stack on an x51v. I have wmp 10, so I don't the redirecting through the wmp9 skinfiles will work.

I am using Pocket Player, which is supposed to support BT AVRCP. There is even a plugin built in for this. But neither of my BT headphones will function properly.

Have you tried loading the WMP plugin handler? Load the AVRCP plugin from WMP and see if that works.

That's extremely odd. There should be an option for using the Widdcomm AVRCP controls in TCPMP.

Try reinstalling TCPMP that may help.

If not I'd say try a hard reset and install TCPMP only. If you see the option then it might be a software problem.

It's in the other thread on the topic in the Multimedia area, as well as Werner's guide.

See post 19 in the thread labelled " Looking for music player which supports AVCRP" and the first post of the " ROUNDUP: Bluetooth remote control (AVRCP) compatible media players" post.

Making the Pocket Player AVRCP work under WM5

(Big thanks to PPCT / AximSite forum member Haesslich for summarizing it so that I didn’t need to look / experiment with it up myself much.)

1. Get the Conduits WMP Plugin Adapter 1.1 from the plug-in page (I really recommend it if you, for example, want to get FLAC or MOD support for your Pocket Player) (direct link to the download).
2. Unzip gen_wmhost.dll from the archive and put it in the home directory of your installed application ([Storage card name]\Program Files\Conduits\Pocket Player).
3. Go to Menu/More/Options (in 3.0; in 2.8, Menu/Options) and select the Plugins tab (it’ll be on the far right)
4. Single-click “Conduits WM Plugin Adapter”, when the context menu comes up, select “Configure”.
5. Click the “Configure WM plugins to load” button.
6. Under version 2.8, it’ll ask four questions; under 3.0, two. Click “Yes” in all cases.
7. Click OK and restart Pocket Player. Now, remote controlling should work OK.
Give this a go, and see if it helps you any - it'll at least enable the ability to load the plugins which do this, in theory - I've NEVER been able to get AVRCP to work with the native BT plugin in PocketPlayer 2 or 3, not under either the Widcomm or MS BT stacks.

Great. Thanks, Haesslich. I will give that a try today.

In order to see the widcomm BT button option you must have your bluetooth enable. If not it will not show up. It took me a while to figurate out. Hope this helps

I tried this, even went so far as to get my headphones connected and started TCPMP. No joy. I still don't have the option. I am using WM5 and widcomm stack so maybe that this reason

TCPMP and AVRCP just don't seem to work with WM5, period - see Menneisyys' roundup, linked above, for details.
