Ike & Dotan
Thanks very much for your replies. I did what you suggested Ike and under the advanced settings tab set both to My Work network (one was showing My ISP) and went back and did a soft reset.
Before this point I noticed that the Axim wasn’t connecting properly with the router – it was as if it was continually hunting, i.e. now it saw the router, now it didn’t – I wasn’t getting a constant connection – the above failed to clear this, so what I did was go into the Dell WLAN utility icon and then into the Dell Axim X51 adapter and click the “use server-assigned IP address” radio button – I now have a constant network connection (apparently) to the router. I’ve just spotted that in the IP address box adjacent to the “use specific IP address” radio button, the IP address has changed from 192.168.0.6 to what appears to me to be some sort of hex figure.
However, when I try and connect to a website (I always try the same address -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/) I’m back where I started, with the original error message! I am also unable to ping 192.168.0.1.
The router tells me that “WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)” security is set up and that the Wireless Access Point is enabled and that Broadcast of name (SSID) is permitted.
