Memory Card
Hey everyone. Long time lurker first time poster. You guys encouraged me to get a 51v and I really love it. Question for you though and I am not sure I put it in the right section but hopefully i did. I purchased a SANDISK 4GB SDHC card. Any idea if this will work in my Axim? Thanks in advance for your replies.

You have to get a non-sdhc card - there are many available 4GB ones.

I use the Transcend 4Gb in my Ax and have found it a good card.

The Transcend unit Alastair refers to is apparently not sdhc. Your Sandisk may or may not be- 4 GB is the border. You'll have to read the documentation, or just try it.

Thanks Dotan - sorry I should of made my post clearer by saying in the Ax I use non-SDHC.

I can confirm (with delight) that a Transcend 4GB MMC card WORKS with X50V (WM2003SE). TS4GMMC4 card model. (worked straight out of the packet).

The Dell site stipulates the max card size for the SD slot is 2GB and max for CF is 4GB (not tested CF yet).

Had already tried a generic OEM 4gb SD card ( did NOT work (was not recognised). Experience on other devices is some chipsets compatibility varies. I cannot definitively state that all 4gb SD cards do not work.

My understanding (google it) is that MMC Plus cards (same functionality as SD) generally are more compatible in the larger capacities than the SD counterpart.

The rumuor mill had it that SD cards would replace MMC cards eventually. It would appear that the MMC is still going strong, given continued manufacture of larger capacity cards.

Does anyone know what the state of play is regarding the eventual or purported demise of the MMC cards?

+1 for the Transcend 4 GB 150X SD card working in X51V (A12 ROM). It worked right out of the package. No issue in the 6 months I've used it.

I don't know there is a 4 GB limit for CF card? I've seen reports of Seagate 8 GB microdrive working in Axim. I'm contemplating a 8 GB CF card but not particularly trustful of A-Data brand . . .

My 4GB 150x A-Data SD card works great in my 51v. Just plugged it in and used it.

Cheers!
