Icon13 I need a new Think Outside keyboard PDA stand piece

My PDA stand piece broke on My Dell executive bluetooth keyboard. I called Think outside and they said I'm out of warranty and to get a new stand piece I need to buy a new $150 keyboard.:realmad: Is there any way to get a new stand piece without paying $150.

I'am intersted in knowing what you are able to find out. My stand has a crack in it and doesn't hold my axim up very well. So keep me posted because I'd love to get a new one also.

If your keyboard is less than a year old Think Outside will give you a new stand piece.

I would try sending an email, or snail mail, to some of their corporate contacts. Don't bother with Tech Support or Sales. For the possible cost of bad publicity vs giving you a replacement part for one of their products, you may get lucky.

You've got nothing to lose by trying anyway.

I just got the same story. I think I'll have someone build a stand. Let me know if you hear of anything.

If you can find one..... Radio Shack and a few other places used to sell a
calculator (member them??) stand that folded up. I used one for my Palm for
years. Wouldn't ya know I lost the darn thing and this morning my Thinkoutside
keyboard stand clip broke as well.....ARGH

That the flimsest part of the whole keyboard and they made it out cheap plastic.

I need a new stand for BT keyboard as well. I emailed them a few days ago but no reply. ThinkOutside used to send them for free but after it became iGo Mobility Electronics I am not sure.

Hoping someone MIGHT have some info on the following:

Have the Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard, when they sent it out they sent the BLACKBERRY version instead of the PocketPC version.

They sent out the Pocket PC version as a replacement and told me to just bin the Blackberry version.

Question is...... Anyone got the Blackberry BT Keyboard to work with the Dell, surely there cannot be any difference in the Bluetooth, just the pda stand, which is easily sortable ??

Thanks

what about epoxy? You can even add things like small nails or any metal or structural materials to the sides of cheap plastic materials to give them strength. It's not pretty but it works. But if Linc got them free thats probably best. How about posting that pic Linc? I was just curious WHERE it cracked.

Yep, I am a heavy user of the TO Keyboard and have busted the stands and have gotten replacements from TO and iGo. But, I do not like having to do that. I have reinforced my stand by using epoxy to glue strong plastic reinforcement pieces to the stand on front and back of the piece that holds up the PDA. I have also cut up an alligator clip and bent it so that it would act as a hinge and reinforced the hinge at the bottom of the stand. I had to cut out the plastic hinge and put my metal hinge in its place. Then, around the ridges at the bottom of the stand I have filled them with epoxy to add strength to the base. I have sanded it so that it looks neat and solid. I then have painted it with silver car paint from an auto parts store. Now my stand is very sturdy and looks very good. No problems for the past year of near daily use. It folds up but not as tightly as before because of the added sheets of plastic on the stand piece. I hope I have been clear. Reinforce it and you will not have trouble, leave it as is and it will last three months at best.
