I got my package for ' OnCourse Ed 2 Powered PDA Cradle Mount with Integrated Speaker for Axim x50(v) and x51(v)' today. but they scared me with 2 things!
1. Windshield mount is NOT in box so i cannot even mount that cradle in CAR!
2. i was charged $16.95 CAN (customs fee) because they labeled it $61. That stupid guy shall know it only cost $35 right??? please return my $16.95!
SO FAR, i cannot use it in car afterr over paid.
A poor guy lived in Canada, I am really really unhappy .............
They (buyGPSnow.com) checked 'GIFT' box with estimated value $60 !
so it cost me $88 at last to get a $35 cradle (I am in Ottawa)
Cradle $35
Shipment $27
Canada customs fee $16.95 (based on that value $60 ! that is why I complain here ), I remember if value <$50, I pay $0 for customs.....sigh, they are so stupid !
I'm not sure why BuyGPSnow declared your item for over its value, but you should realize that the rule is:
up to $20CAD - no duty or tax
up to $60CAD - no duty or tax IF labelled as a gift
Even if the item if labelled as a gift and declared at a value of up to $60, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) can open any package and charge applicable taxes.
1. I can complain Canada customs guys if buyGPSnow.com said package came from personal (not company)
...... because
The $60 CAN gift exemption does not apply to:
* goods such as tobacco, alcoholic beverages, or advertising material
* items sent by a business, company, or association.

iamtank, Customs is pretty unlikely to accept that buyGPSnow is NOT a company...:rolling: The other thing is that Customs also has a right to ask you for proof that the item really is a gift. I know, it's happened to me before.
Talked online with BuyGPSnow, Got answers I need on :
1) value on pacakge ==item + shipping fee
2) shipping fee == USPS express
3) re-send missed items
Also get $4 back because their computer system over-charged shipping fee from uncleaned cache...awesome!
their answers is clear and straightforward, i Feel better now.
1 bad news: I called Canada Customs office by Toll-free: 1 800 461-9999.
I was told "if no gift card or something looks like /happy birthday to you/ , they don't think it is a gift even it LABELED as gift." , that is why I was charged $16 !
I really DISLIKE this, but can i avoid this next time?
but if you purchased it from a business it wasn't a gift....

Unfortunately, it if really ISN'T a gift, it's hard to provide the proof, isn't it? Like, I said, Customs has been known to ask for documentation proving it's a gift. They don't check all packages obviously, but if your item is in a nice brown box with a business label on it, it's probably more likely to be verified.
