CF SD Cards
Yes, I was wondering because I really needed a memory card as soon as possible, so I ordered a 2 gig SD card off ebay for like $22 shipped. I was thinking would I get a SF card possibly 1 Gig or something and use it as duel memory? I was thinking of putting possibly iGuidance 4.0 (which is 1.3 gigs) on it and then putting music, videos & other great goodies on the CF card. Any recommendations with the issue with a 2 Gig SD card.

Not sure exactly what your question is, but I can say from experience that using both memory options with the axim x50 and x51 series works great. It takes some planning so you don't end up having to take a card out because the application and data are on the same type of card, but on different cards.

Currently, I have a 2gb SD card with most of my applications, today themes and some pictures. I save my CF slot for media. Currently it is 8gb of music, movies and tv shows. I swap those out for travel or load new shows on spare CF cards I have left over from old cameras.

I started this scheme because there does not seem to be a limit in the amount of CF memory that the axim can read, but it is limited to 4gb non-SDHC
sd cards.

I don't have gps on my axim, but I see many supply their data on an sd card. this would be a problem in my current setup, but I have been looking at applications that allow me to load the data on a cf card. Hope this helps.

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend investing more in the format compatible with other devices you own. For me, that would be SD since I own two SD digicams. In fact, the next SD card I plan to get would probably be a micro-SD, since it will also be compatible with my cell (and compatible with my Axim and digicams with the supplied adapter). I also like to leave my CF card slot free for accessories.

Be aware of buying memory cards off Ebay. There are MANY fakes out there.

ok,
As you have already ordered its a little bit late for anything,
but personally (and I have been through this so many times), the sellers feedback looks fine, negative feedback he got was for shipping problems, no buyer mention anything about hacked capacity cards, so it seems to fine for me, ofcourse you can always send a message to one of the guys who bought the same card from him a while ago and ask about the write/read tests or any benchmarks they might have applied on the card.
Hope that helped

Positive feedback does not imply a legitimate card. Most people leave feedback soon after they've received the item. If they use it in their digital camera, PDA, etc. and it works, and shipping has been fine, etc., then positive feedback is left. Most people aren't even aware of fakes on Ebay and often do not realize there is a problem until the card prematurely fails or seems "too slow" at a later date. By then, it is too late to retract your positive feedback. Personally, I would avoid Ebay for cards if at all possible.

Gigi,
You are right, but there is actually two kinds of non-legitimate cards, there are OEMs that are fakely rebranded as original cards, which are not that bad if you ask me they might be a little bit slower but you want feel much of a difference on the axim anyway (I once was got a 2 GB sandisk ultra for $45 that turned out to be SAMSUNG OEM, despite the fraud action its working nicely since last year).
Actually since ebay seller are getting so much trouble from this kind of fraud you will find now so many "OEM cards" on ebay as its not worthy the trouble of rebranding.
The second and more important problem is the hacked cards (i.e. card falsely reformated to show higher capacity specs) although almost all buyers now reformate cards and try loading it with files to maximum capacity once they got it and before leaving feedback, its always wise to contact the buyers from ebay to ask them about the card before buying it.
and by the way, its not just Ebay who carry fake cards, the sandisk faked card was so wide spread the customers of major online retail stores reported getting some as well.
Hope that helped,

There are no 'issues' with CF cards that I'm aware of. I use a 2gb Extreme III. No trouble with it other than it doesn't fill the slots like the blanking plate did, so now there's a gap at the top of the Axim!

Short answer is that you have two slots and not using one of them is a waste. GO ahead & buy.
