Axim locks when SD card inserted!!!
When I insert the SD card and select the File Explorer, the Axim locks and has to be soft reset. The Axim will come back, however, the same thing occurs if I try to view the SD card again.

Thanks

Can you try a different card? Have you tried the card in other devices?

best bet is to try and reformat the card if you can't get it to work elsewhere

FAT32

BTW, the cards sometimes do go bad... it might just be trash now. Good news is that they are MUCH cheaper now than 2 years ago

Make sure your 'lock' button is not on. The Axim will power up with the insertion of any card (SD or CF) with the 'lock' button on but of course will not respond.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. The card works in my x5. Lock button is off. Don't want to reformat, lots of good stuff on it. Could the card be too old, not compatible, for the x51?

Oh...and I did the ROM upgrade to version A12. Did not work before the upgrade and does not work after. Purchased device used...former owner states that the SD slot worked before...Hasn't since I've owned it. I have not tried the CF yet. Any more suggestions?

Thanks again

there are slot cleaners, perhaps the contacts in the socket are dirty.

If you have a card reader, just copy the contents of your card to your PC, then format the card. If the card is compatible with the X5, chances are it will be compatible with your x51. I would try try the slot again with a formatted card and/or another card.

Not much chatter....I guess I'm SOL. Must be a hardware problem, which will probably cost a bundle to get fixed. Sending it back to the factory and all.

Thanks for all the efforts.

Why, yes...I did buy it off e-bay. I know...buyer-beware. I've never had a problem with e-bay. I did my research. I was hoping it was an easy fix. Everything else appears to work fine, except that SD slot. Is there a specific problem with the e-bay purchase, or was I generally scammed?

I've made lots of purchases on ebay and haven't had many problems. You really should get an inexpensive low capacity SD card from your local retailer and check to see if it can read that card without problems. The card may very well be corrupt. Another possiblity is that the card has an autorun executable located in the 2577 directory and that executable locks up the Axim x51v.
