Help me spend $$
Okay... I've never posted here before and I have and odd request. I have a fair amount of money through a work fund that is going to expire and I want to use it on my new Axim x51v. Please help me spend their money! I have travel charges. I am considering a camera (ideas?), a BIG CF (have a 2 gb SD), dictionary... I am in the medical field and have Epocrates. What hardware/software should I get?

Send the $$$ to me and I'll spend it for you.

Have you thought about a GPS? You know we all are always getting lost!

If you want a big and fast CF Card, look at the Sandisk Extreme 3 cards. I have the 4gb, and it was $109 at Best Buy. But when the say it has speeds up to 20mb/s, they are not kidding. I had ~17 mb/s on Vista. I am very happy with it...

I know on Newegg.com there are some good CF deals too. But they are not as high quality card. On the box of my card, it says it can stand shocks, and bumps. That is a very good thing for me, because can be clumsy...

Yes, a GPS system would be good for you. I have the Dell GPS system, and I am fine with it. It does what it is supposed to do. Although, I do not like the software what comes with it for your PDA.

I have always liked the Canon, and SOny digital cameras.

I would agree with the GPS suggestion. I have the Tom Tom working on my x51v and I love it. I would suggest an extended battery and back cover. I find the extra operating time to be invaluable.

GPS is a great idea. But say you were starting from scratch... And say you had unlimited free money... What would you buy, in order of importance?

It depends on what your needs are...it would help a lot if you mentioned what you wanted to do with your Axim. However, for most users, you should get some good utilities such as a task manager, file explorer, backup, etc. I personally use Wisbar Advanced, Resco Explorer and Sprite Backup.

I guess it would help if I were more specific... I have read quite a bit on these forums and it amazes me that you can do SO much. For all of you who have had you PPC for awhile, if you had unlimited funds (someone elses), what specifically would you buy. It's one of those conversations, "What would you do if you one the lottery?"

What would I get for my axim x51v if I won the lotto.

Hardware:
Sena leather case
2 extended batteries
a second oem cradle and power cord
a third oem power cord only
gps with software
4gig sd card
16gig CF card
bt headphones
vga cable to hook axim to monitor
Thinkout bt travel mouse.

Software (Some I have, some I don't):
SBSH Pocket Weather
Resco File Explorer
Pocket Mechanic
IM+
NetFront
isilo
Several Astraware games.

I think I would be too busy hunting down the hardware to worry about the software though

I'm already using over half of my 2gig stick before I even put a fraction of what I might/would/could on there. The maps for the gps software, for north america are about 2 gigs all by themselves. That's before books, movies, music (I still haven't managed to put the 5gigs from my old mrobe on here), and that list of software I would buy if I had unlimited funds. I'd say 20gig is just about right with room to grow. Besides, I'm a pack rat.

I'd say 4 gigs for the software, and 16 for multimedia. I'd say 32 but even I would have trouble packing things on there that I might actually use. LOL
