Aximsitex50icon Really need an external battery option

I have a 51v and need an external battery option. I found this link but don't know if anyone has tried it CLICK. Now I read about this product on this site but can't find a place in the states to buy it from CLICK. I would really like to get this one that is shown on your site because of it's review but where can I buy it? Also, can I get some recommendations for a new battery for the Axim itself. I really don't want that HUGE battery off the back of it but do need more power, any options for me? Thanks :)

I haven't seen that particular external battery before but I know there are cheaper alternatives that use AA batteries. I'll check for some links when I get off this train.

I've used this battery extender in the past ($6.99 + shipping). I got over 8 hours of MP3 play using this and a standard Ax battery. After 8 hours the battery meter on my Ax still read full. :approve:

Semsons has all the battery extender accesories you need for your Ax here. BE sure to use 1600mAh AA NiMH batteries they give the best results.

Check out PSP products, they work on the Axim. I use the Pelican external battery for my x51v.

Try this...
Universal external Digital Camera and Camcorder battery
I bought it about a year ago for my X51v and highly recommend it.

Can you use the AA replaceable batteries with Axim x51v? There's a bit of a voltage difference (about 1.2V -- the replaceables run at 6V vs NiHM at 4.8V)... I'd prefer to use the replaceable batteries just because I can carry a pack around and not run out (I use axim for hiking and need a reliable source of power in the middle of nowhere).

Thanks,
Klaus

I think this is what you are looking for:
Black & Decker Pocket Power Portable Battery Backup
Black & Decker Power Tools

They also make the Power to go extended batteries.

Power to go

Both will charge any device through a USB connector. All you will need is an USB cable for your Axim.

Great topic.
Looks like with this: PDA Battery Extender (Pocket PC PDAs) you really don't need to buy extended battery pack (which I was planning to buy) This price is great.

The price is great, but using 4x AA NiMH batteries will leave you flat after a short period of time. Using Alkaline batteries will deliver 6V, which the PDA's protection circuitry may shut off.

So, build your own! And considering using this part from Dimension Engineering as a drop-in replacement for the 7805 (although you may want to use it only with the PDA off with a larger battery).

PocketBrain, that's cool, but all I have is a soldering iron (HotCool or whatever it was). So you are saying 4 rechargeable batteries won't work with that, and we should use regular batteries?

I just need something so that if my battery dies quickly during a trip some place when I need GPS. Otherwise, I cannot find anywhere who sells reliable extended battery for X51v.

I have an APC Mobile Power Pack external battery. It's LI, and will charge the Ax from nothing to full at least twice. Charges using a mini USB to your computer and has a regular USB jack to plug any USB device into (except iPod nano, that requires a special adapter).

I am sure you can find one on a web search....last place I saw one was Circuit City.

That's the one, although I think Circuit City had it a bit cheaper.

Alot of these look cool but will the ones that use the USB cables work? I read the sticky on how the cables normally will not charge correctly because of the wiring? I just don't want to buy anything more unless I know it will work. Thank you all for your replies. I was going to look into this one. What do you think? CLICK
