Extended Battery vs. Standard Battery
I like the slimness of my x51v. I currently have 2 standard batteries. Would it be better to buy 2 more standard batteries or a single (or perhaps 2) mores extended batteries.

Does it make it alot thicker? Are there any partially extended batteries that don't make it thicker? How about full exteneded batteries?

I got an extended battery right after I got my PDA and used it for a while and even got a case to accommodate the added thickness of the 2200 mah battery. Then I got tired of the extra thickness being too thick for pocket carry. So I got 2 more standard batteries and have been using them for the last 4-6 months.

Sooo, if I had it to do all over again, I'd get 2 more standard batteries and use the cash saved for a really nice case instead of getting the extended batteries.

Here's a pic of the extended battery and cover installed on my x51v to get an idea of how much thicker it is.

Wow, it makes it like 40% thicker. Yeah.. I already have 2 standard batteries, I'll just pick up 2 more then. Since I'm a high school student, I'll just stick the batteries in my backpack and swap when needed.

Is there any way to charge a battery without it being in the axim?

Only way I know of is to use the charging/sync cradle that comes with the PDA. There is a place behind where the Axim docks that will accept a bare battery for charging.

There is 1800 mah extended battery for x51v. It adds a little bit thickness, but not much. Axim with this battery fits into standard leather case. See pics on cases.com

but it costs wayy more than buying a 2200mah which is totally unfair.

Has your unit developed the infamous "Battery latch open" issue ?

If no, consider yourself lucky. If yes, the only fix that I could come up with requires me to change battery as seldom as possible.

Also, there's a matter of convenience. For me at least, changing battery every now and then, and carrying a spare around with me, is very inconvenient, less so than having a bit thicker device that still fits in my pocket and lasts long enough to survive between charges.

If you go with a 2200 mAh battery, you may want to invest in a leather case that accomodates it. It's much slimmer than the aluminum case sold with many batteries, and makes it much easier to carry in pockets. Even without a case the 2200 mAh fits easily in the standard Axim microfiber carrying case.

We set a standard to issue the 2200 mAH battery to all the V users due to the screen brightness and people not being able to work 8 hours a day on the standard battery.

Having said that, you invested in a unit that will be current for a while, so IMHO, it's worth it to kick it up a notch with a nice battery like the 2200 mAH.
