Helmet Cam
Hey,

I just bought some of cmos 9pin min din cameras. My plan is to make helmet cameras with them and record the video with my axim. What interface is best to get the video to my axim.

Also is there software that might work for this. Thanks

Graham

Well it all depends what you're looking at.

At a pinch, I'd say if you want to keep a cable from the helmet cam running constantly, then some form of CF card would be the answer (either a usb host or a serial host if you can get one - I'm not sure on the pinout or data standards though).

Failing that, you could look into short range wireless transmissions (wifi or bluetooth depending on how short a range you want) and mock up some sort of adapter for the camera end...

You would have probably been better off purchasing an SD card based camera and hack the device to separate the camera and the SD interface with a cable in between.
I know that is not what you want to hear but the cameras you have only come with WinXP drivers (typically) and would be exceeding difficult to interface to a PDA.
Now, with that said, you could get one of these: Asus WL-HDD and flash it with third party Linux OS so that you can use the camera with that and send the video wirelessly to other devices. Of course, the camera would have to be on the list of one that function with Linux.
