I am reeeeally interested in buying an extended battery for my Ax X51v. I have it for a couple of weeks or more and the only disapointment is that foolish 1100 mAh battery...
So, I would like to know where I can find some nice battery (about 2200mAh?) on the internet. It must be on a reliable virtual store (that someone has already bought from) and it must send it to Brazil. Perhaps one that gives discount coupons for users of Aximsite? ;)
Another thing!
I'm using my Ax with the Dell leather cover (it opens vertically, with two pockets for SD cards :) ). Will the Ax with the extended battery fit on it?
I bought 2 of the 2200mah batteries form the site below,
they come complete with new doors and both work fine
in my Ax 51v after a year of use.
They took approx. & working days for delivery and shipping
was about $9.00. Replacement PDA Batteries
Sorry to bear bad news, but the extended battery will add a good sized hump to the back of the Axim. This means that any snug fitting cases will not work unless it was designed to be used with the extended battery.
One possible exception is the Mugen 1800mah battery. There have been some users who reported that this battery would work with many leather cases designed for the standard battery.
I just purchased a 2300mAh Li-Ion Battery For Dell Axim X50 X50V X51 X51V from Accstation. on E-Bay. It does not require a larger door. The battery is the same size as the original.
bigtsr, nice to know it. This store is from Canada, where are you from?
Maximum Dude, this one is very interesting. I guess it would fit on my leather case, since it is not that tight. But i bet that 400 mAh on the larger bateries would made good diference... I guess even 2200 isn't much if I intend to use it for some hours in college, using the network. Something to think about...
Cervi, now that sounds good. You just bought it? It works?
It's strange, I don't think you can squeeze twice li-ion cells on the same space... but, never knows.
I've googled for accstation and just found it: Li-Ion Battery for Dell Axim X50 / X50v / X51 / X51v
it's very cheap and it doesn't say anything about the capacity
Yes I live in Canada ursoouindio the batteries are from Hongkong via
California and the 2200 mah batteries are twice as thick as the 1100 mah
that come with the 51v,cervri I hate to tell you this but I cannot
imagine a 2200mah being the same as the 1100mah unless technology
passed me by while I wasn't looking,I think you have been scammed.
The 2 batteries as I say seem to last all day and have worked as
advertised, they are identical to the ones from Dell down to every detail
with the exception of the Dell logo and they are Lithium-Ion.
I have the Mugen 1800 that Maximum Dude mentioned. It works great with my leather Sena case (the regular, not the extended case). As mentioned, I too would be cautious about a higher capacity battery advertised as the same size as the OEM batteries. I'm not saying they don't exist; just verify the specs before purchasing.

Then I seriously doubt that it is a true 2300mAh battery especially since it was purchased from ebay.
Gigi, what can you say about the usage time of this 1800 mAh battery over the regular one? I think that would be just like my old hx2490 that has a 1440 mAh battery...
bigstr, just to know, how does the Ax feels with the extended batteries? Isn't it umconfortable?
OMG at Lion's they're selling 4400 mAh batterys for the new Ipaqs!
No ursoouindio I don't find the larger battery uncomfortable or
awkward to use at all,in fact I never have upgraded the original
carrying case that came with the 51v and it slips right in easily.
I have in the past used the Ax daily for 3 or 4 hours straight
and never ended with less than 60% charge left tho I am now
using HTC 7501 all the time the 51v sits in the cradle ready to go
back into duty.

I have four standard 1100 mAh batteries and a single 2200 mAh battery for my two X51Vs. All of these batteries are Dell originals. My experience has been just about double between the two in time usage. My ww00 mAh battery does however require its own battery door simply because the battery is twice the thickness of my other batteries.
nice to know, bigstr! I would think that it did not fit on that case... that seems much more tight than the leather case...
It's that one made of a synthetic tissue, with elastic material on the sides, right? (I bought a second hand Ax)

Take a look at a review I did awhile back of the Mugen 1800. It compares the usage times:
thanks, Gigi.
On your review, one of the cons is the 6 months warranty... At aximcases.com they say 1 year warranty.
Looks nice, the performance is good, 10% less then the ratio 1800/1100 on heavy usage, but it's ok.
Just the price is almost the same as the 2200 mAh battery... :/
I would need to think that I am not losing a leather case.

I don't really know about the warranty. I wrote the review quite awhile ago, so it may have changed. I'd contact Mugen or cases.com to verify.
As for battery brand, Mugen generally has a good reputation. The battery I reviewed has passed on, but I purchased another one to take its place. I really appreciate the extra capacity for the size. I've read lots of positive reports about generic brand batteries (from Ebay, etc.) so you should still consider them. However, bear in mind that should you happen to get a dud, your options for return/exchange, etc. may be more limited.
