can't get my dell axim to pair with my gps receiver
I'm having trouble installing my Bluetooth GPS receiver to my dell axim x51v. I went through all the steps and for some reason it just won't connect. I'm getting really annoyed now. I need this thing working before sunday...my first round of golf

Any idea what it could be? I bought the global sat g66 off ebay.

This is from the manual
0.2 Connect to your PC/PDA
A. Touch the power sensitive switch “ ” for 1 seconds, power on the Bluetooth GPS
receiver.
B. Put the Bluetooth GPS receiver at proper place (open sky) for good GPS signal
reception.
C. Turn on the power of your navigation platform like PDA/Smartphone etc…
D. Search for Bluetooth device by your Bluetooth manager on your Host Platform
(laptop/PDA/Smart phone). Normally Pin code is not necessary. But some Bluetooth
embedded system force to enter pin code (password), please fill [0000] in such
case.
E. Connect G66 Bluetooth GPS Receiver and then make sure baud rate set at
Bluetooth GPS Receiver User Manual
-3-
38400bps(standard) in your application program.
F. In firstly Use of this Bluetooth GPS Receiver, we strongly recommend you to bring
your Bluetooth GPS receiver outdoor or open sky at least 10~15 minutes for sure
3D position fixed and almanac updated.

While it is advisable to be outside to set up BT GPS your Ax51v
should discover BT signal without a lock on satellites.
1-Turn on 51v
2-Start/Settings/Connections/Bluetooth/Mode
3-Checkmark both boxes-3b-Turn on Bluetooth
-3c-Make this device discoverable to other devices.
4-Turn on BT GPS receiver
5-Tap Devices tab on 51v
6-Tap New Partnership-at this point 51v will look for BT GPS signal and when
found it will appear on Device screen under new partnership.
7-Tap COM Ports tab and follow instructions at top of screen.

When it asks for a PIN NUMBER use the number on the receiver usually designated as PASSKEY:XXXX
or if it's not there use 0000.

After I enter 0000 for the GPS it takes me to partnership settings and asks me to check a box called serial port (select services to use from this device)

"To connect to a device, tap new outgoing port. To allow other devices to connect tap new incoming port. "

Here I top new outgoing and I add the device "GPS touch" (name of my receiver)

It asks me to choose a port (7 or 8). I pick 8. It asks me to check the box secure connection and I don't check it.

Now on the devices tap there is a still a question mark in a bubble around my "GPS touch" device and the indicator light on the GPS receiver is still flashing... looking for a connection. I've already restarted these two things 15 times but thats not it. I must be doing something wrong...

ok this is very strange... when I have the prompt to enter my KEY of 0000 if I enter nothing and just hit next.. I get a msg saying "GPS touch would like to connect to your device" so I allow it and the indicator light even showed that it is connected. but it still asks me for my password so i enter the 0000. then it takes me to the serial port box and no mater what I do the light on the receiver goes back to what it was before and tells me that its still reasing for something to connect to!!! This is annoying, I've wasted half my day on this already LOL

Sorry your having problem but that's my best shot at helping
without hands on.
Try secure connection-read instructs for GPS receiver re PASSKEY again.

Good luck!
