Aximsitex50icon Best add-on cards (CF & SD) for X51v

I recently (re)purchased a X51v and would like to potentially upgrade the expansion cards at some point. As I've been out of Axim circulation a while, anyone care to enlighten me on the best performing/maximum capacity cards for the unit?

P.S. It's so nice to have the Axim back in hand!

I can't tell you the best performing ones or anything like that but remember that the speed isn't of any great benefit on the Ax as it works at it's own pace.
A faster one will obviously work faster in a card reader.

CF, pretty much unlimited capacity as far as I know, only limited by what is available and how much you want to spend.

SD, I think is 4Gig.
SDHC only 4Gig if you are using WM5 with the SDHC patch.
SDHC doesn't work natively with the AX and WM5.

If you flash to WM6 then you have complete SDHC compatibility.

There is a list of compatible cards here.

Thanks, Box. Yes, I have been mulling flashing to WM6.x, either with the Lenny rom or the Makuu rom. Not sure which just yet.

I do know that I did observe performance differences between a couple of different CF cards in terms of read/write access. Nothing outrageous, but definitely a noticeable difference.

I just picked up a Transcend 8GB CF card for about $20 from NewEgg. Since I wasn't using my CF slot anyways, it was a great way to add storage on the cheap.

Heck, I've got more storage than my wife and my brother-in-law's iPod's combined now.

Using Lenny's L11 ROM (Will flash Makuu's ROM for weekend project) with a Sandisk 16GB SD card (costed me an arm+leg). Works fast and furious.

I did go for a Newegg 8&8 sdhc and CF card. I'm testing Makuu and Lenny ROMs so we'll see which one I like best. Wish I could get WPA2 encryption, though...
