screen protectors

Ok, so I just gifted myself a swank new V51. Was wondering if I need to buy any expensive accessories to protect it? You know like a leather pouch or plastic screen shield.

It's all subjective, but my personal accessory must-haves are a screen protector (I'm partial to Boxwave or Brando) and a case. I prefer cases that are light and can allow me to sync so Sena (leather) is my choice. I've had mine for 3+ years and it's still going strong. If you need more protection, look into the metal hard cases.

Every one of my PDA's from my first Palm Pilot to my current X51V have had a screen protector on them. I enter most of my information on the fly (not at a computer screen) so no screen protector is not an option. There are many other threads on this site on this subject of screen protectors. I suggest you do a search on this site and you will find lots of suggestions from actual users here. I personally make my own screen protectors from a product that I found at a fabric store (while waiting for my wife). They had some clear plastic table cloth material in three sizes. I selected the middle thickness which if memory serves me was .8mm. I bought a square yard for less than a buck (6 years ago). I made a cardboard template of my units screen size and cut some out. They proved to be durable, almost scratch resistant and best of all very inexpensive. I have used them ever since making a new screen protector about every 6 months (more for the fun of it than the need to change it out). When the screen protector gets a bit of a drag to it I put a very very small amount of pledge on a rag and put it on the screen protector (while on my unit) and rub the pledge off. Makes the screen protector as slick as glass again. :approve:

At minimum a screen protector and case. Im using projector sheets that I cut to size using a template found on this site atm as a screen protector. If you want a metal case Id recommend the innopocket/proporta magnesium case, its light adds minimum bulk and has a front flip. It is the slimmest/lightest and supposedly strongest metal case imho. I recently got mine from aximcases and couldn't be happier.

I'm selling a metal book style case, leather open faced case, and black silicone case for $15 shipped, if you're interested.

Here’s the deal: you don’t have to buy any protection for your pda, but you’re better off doing so. You probably spent a small fortune on it, so spend a tiny bit more to prevent it from getting scratched or spoilt. Try navprotector.com, they have some good protectors that are not expensive either.
