I noticed the thread about the chargers and it seems like there was concern about 3rd party chargers in the past. Would anyone happen to know if a charger such as the ones that are on ebay (ex. an items is called USB Cable+Wall+Car Charger F Dell Axim X50 X51 X51V X5U) will work to charge an X51V without problems (that is you can charge while using, synch and charge at the same time, and just charge)?
Also, would these work without problem for charing an iPod if you plug the iPod USB connector into the chargers?
I have seen various types of chargers/ data transfer cables for the Axim series.
1. Cradle- the best of all. It provides AC power with data transfer capabilities
2. AC charger- All it is the charge cable of the cradle with an adapter that fits the Axim
3. USB Cable comboed with AC charger- Recently saw this one. It is a USB cable that has an odd attachment port for an AC charger
4. USB Power Cable- Just a plain USB connector. It also charges your Axim, but takes longer.
Your safest bet is to get a cradle. Of course, if you travel a lot, buy the AC charger and USB Power Cable separately. I do not trust that combo charger/ data transfer cable (#3).
One last note, remember that if your battery drains completely. The USB Power Cable alone is not sufficient to power on the device. Meaning it does not give enough "oomph" to power the device on.
iPods and Axims don't mix. The voltage or amperage or whatever (I, by no means, is an electrician) is probably different. I would stay away from mixing the two.

Most things will charge from a universal usb charger.
Generally, if you can charge it by plugging into the usb on a PC then it will work.
It might not work if the battery is flat and it might not work with the device on.
I use one for my ipod, axim, various phones etc
Yes but the port on the Axim and the iPod port are different. They invented new adapters now?

Now I'm all confused...
"Also, would these work without problem for charing [charging] an iPod if you plug the iPod USB connector into the chargers?"
I know what an iPod USB connector is because I have one. It is a little USB dock with a 3.5mm jack on the side. How does that connect with Axim chargers?

Does this ipod Dock attach to your computer via usb and charge the ipod?
Or is it an AC connection?
What I'm talking about is the small charging units that MAC sell and everyone else, which is just a plug into the wall or the lighter in your car that has a USB port.
This will charge both an Axim and an iPod.
And this is the type of device mentioned in the OP.
So back to his/her question:
So I would think no is the answer for his question. The iPod USB connector is USB Male-->3.5mm or iPod Touch jack. None of the Axim chargers have a USB female port. So the answer would be no...
But what can be done is:
Get AC adapter for the Axim so it is AC-->Axim port
Or get Box's product and use the USB Power Cable so it looks like
AC-->USB female-->USB male-->Axim port

The iPod USB would be the shuffle that is pictured in a reply above. The items that I was looking multiple plugs/cords. One takes the axim plug and turns it into a usb plug. Then, they bundle it with a usb car adapter and a outlet to usb adapter.
None of the Axim chargers have a USB female port. So the answer would be no...
You can get an Axim connector with a mini usb female.
Its a Y connector, on one side it has an AC plug and on the other a Mini usb.
Or any sync charge cable will work.
I have both.
Learned something new today. I did not know those kind of chargers exist. Thanks Box.

Before you go rushing off to get a USB charger, read this thread. (Yes, it's long.) The bottom line is that the Axim series uses two different sets of pins to charge, one for USB, which charges slowly and will not charge/run at the same time and one for the external power supply, which charges faster and can charge/run at the same time. Mixing the two can fry your USB ports, or adapter, unless they are able to provide the up-to 2000 mA that an Axim can demand. Cheap cables tend not to be configured properly, putting your supply at risk, and your Axim in jeopardy of being out of power when you need it.
So, pretty much you need to make sure you have enough amps charging your axim and this is especially true if you have a larger battery, drain the device close to empty, or expect to use it while charging. The 2A charger should work with the mega 3600mah batteries. And I should forget about using anything besides the dock to charge and data transfer simultaneously. It sounds like the USB chargers coming from a computer are weak. Any suggestions as to where you can buy a 2A car or home charger?
