USB cradle broken

Good eve folks,

I have a problem with my Dell USB cradle for the X51v. The "charning/USB pin" on the caddle got loose. Now I can't charge my x51v without taking the whole battery out and put it in to the back part of cradle. More important, I have no connection with my PC.

Is there anyway I can open the cradle to fasten the pin again? Any suggestions? :)

I broke my X50v cradle a long time ago (X50, X50v, X51, X51v all use the same cradle) and it was because the slot connector broke off inside.

I took it apart and the slot connector is a surface mount component. I lined the pins up and then took a soldering iron and touched each pin to get a connection, then super-glued the connector to the board to keep it in place. I also soldered the holding pins on the sides to the bottom of the board to help hold it. Put it all back together and it's been fine for years.

I picked up a retractable USB synch/Charge cable on e-bay for like 5$ shipped to my door. Handy little gadget to have on hand as well, this way you can plug into any USB source and charge the unit without having an ac adapter. Will take a little longer to charge the unit that the ac though.
