I never heard of a SDHC to CF card adapter, so I cannot tell you if it works. I doubt so, though.
CF for Axim x51 is basically unlimited. I suggest buying a dedicated 16GB CF card for your Axim.
-kcal beat me to it!

Glad you caught that Johnhu. I missed the adapter part. Yes, it will work. Here's the link for reference: SD/SDHC to CF adapter
I agree with Johnhu, stick with the dedicated CF card.

Based on what I've read, they aren't any faster than a standard CF card. You just get the advantage of using the SDHC SD card in that slot. That's helpful if you're swapping cards between devices and the fact that CF cards are not used as much these days. IF you don't plan to swap the card around, then there's no real advantage. :exc:
I concur. My Axims are the only two devices in my whole house that uses CF cards. Since the speed is about equal, maybe the SD adapter would do fine. You do get the ability to use the SD/SDHC card with other devices...

eriksonlk, you are using WM6.1.
That has built-in SDHC support.
WM5 can only recognize SD and SDHC with a driver.

Note that eriksonlk has a x51v. A x51v and x51 are different devices.
From my opinion, the ROMs (Operating Systems) released for the x51 are not mature. The new release by Lenny does not have a working CF. It does have a working SDHC.
Windows Mobile 6.1 in general offers multitudes of new "stuff". It is generally faster. The start bar and the bottom bar have gradient. It is more responsive than WM5. Also, it includes some extra utilities like an integrated task manager.
Despite WM6.1 sounding pretty good, WM6.1 ROMs for the x51 are supposedly not stable enough. They can easily crash and cause problems. So, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
If you insist on installing a WM6.1 ROM, here is a link to look at. I can assist you in flashing (installing) that ROM.

X51V with WM5 can take any size CF. I've used up to 32 GB. If you convert to WM6, you can use any size SDHC--I've got a 32 GB SDHC and a 32 GB CF in my Axim right now. You say you want Type 2--believe me, you don't: it's obsolete, and if you find one, it'll use a crazy amount of power, be low-capacity, slow, and fragile.
Other advantages to upgrading to WM6? WM5 is a dog. Upgrade to WM6 and you'll notice a significant increase in speed and rock-solid stability. Disadvantages? It's not hard if you know a bit about computers and already have the background knowledge to understand the procedures, but if you read the instructions and find them incomprehensible, it may take you a month to figure it all out. If you're happy with WM5 and not having any problems, it may not be worth it, but if your Axim's driving you so crazy you don't want to use it anymore, upgrading will turn it into an entirely different animal.
