Yeah Mine is preproduction but I can't see it on there site anymore either! I wonder how long this will take?

Heard back from Ziplinq today that they plan to have their X50 sync cables ready for shipping in 4 to 6 weeks.

I just ordered my x50v today from Dell and asked about the car charger. He said they would be available shortly but didn't indicate when.

Is there a plan for the x50v car charger?
How do I get a hold of the car charger for the x50v?
I purchased the Dell BT GPS unit which comes with a splitter to charge both the GPS and the Axim-- works fine using the dongle that ships with the Axim x50v

klubar,
Thats interesting that the BT GPS from dell unit charges the X50v. I got the belking BT GPS and it connects correctly, however the X50v does not charge. The screen brightens for a second and then flickers constantly. So I don't think the voltages are done correctly. Just FYI

The flickering is because the current draw is too high and the voltage drops below about 5v, which is the minimum for the Axim to use. The voltage drops, the Ax quit using the power, the voltage climbs, the Ax draws again, brightening the screen, the voltage drops again, the screen dims, the Ax quits using power, etc, etc, etc. You might try doing that with the batteries fully topped off to see if the charger can hold the power up. Axims draw increasing current when the batteries are low because it uses the power to charge the battery while also running the unit. The deeper the battery discharge, the more current it demands. Bottom line: A "standard" 650mA 5v charger WON'T work because the X50 current demand forces the voltage down below 5V. You need at least 850 mA at 5V to work. The optimum is 5.4v at about 2000 mA, then it will work no matter how dead the battery is.

I'm waiting for the "Road Warrior" sync/charger package from gomadic.com. Not affiliated with this company, but seems like they have quality products including car mounts. :)

Belkin is slated to start shipping a car charger for the x50 series...in late November. The part will be #F8D0004. It's also available on the Dell website for $35 or $39...can't remember which.

Whoah.. those prices are ridiculous, you can get an X5 charger at semsons for $9.99 and use the power adapter that came with the x50..

Yes I have the x50.. according to all I've read the X5 and X50 power supplies are interchangeable. I'll test the x50v with my X5 cigarette adapter tonight and post the results later..

The Belkin Bluetooth GPS (~$150 with software) comes with a car charger adapter and a regular household charger cable that both work with the dell axim x50v. I tried it out, the car charger is 5V @ 850 and mA the household is 5V @ 1A. And you can charge through the USB port of your computer or laptop as well. THat's because the cord has the adapter to the dell/belkin on one end and a usb plug (male) on the other end. The household adapter simply plugs into an outlet and as a usb femalte end. Same with the car charger.

Using the Dell GPS BT charger seems to work--running both the GPS and the Axim. The axim charge light comes on as does the GPS. You might want to check the voltage at the car power outlet--- perhaps the contacts are dirty or your car is putting out less than 13 volts. Also, both the GPS and Axim were reasonably charged to start with. Don't know if it would work at just the battery voltage (12), but what's the point of a GPS if the car isn't turned on.

ok, i tested the X5 car charger and it works perfectly fine with the x50v when you use the adapter.. seems to actually charge faster than the AC charger..
